A crash course on Hungary’s increasingly fabulous wines featuring a sommelier-led evening tasting of 8 fine wines paired with a selection of food pairings. Featuring a carefully curated selection of eight great Hungarian wines, this sommelier-led tasting distills the wide range of Hungarian wine into a comprehensible story. Over two hours you’ll get a good overview of Hungarian wine—including the history, the major regions, the important varietals, unique characteristics and styles, and promising trends. We buy our wine directly from the producers, who we have gotten to know well over the years, and every wine you will taste during the course of the tasting will be there for a reason. By the end of the tasting you will have a good understanding of Hungary’s place in the world of wine (and plenty of good wine in your belly). This tasting is designed for anyone with an interest in wine, who would like to know more about the relatively unknown wines of Hungary. The final wine in the lineup will be a glass of sweet wine from Tokaj, one of the world’s greatest sweet wines This tasting is accompanied by a selection of local food pairings.

Thomas, sorry about the spelling of your name was a great wine expert. He taught us so much about Hungarian wines. I loved this experience. It’s more couples that go to this, but you can definitely do it solo

I had a wonderful wine tasting led by Thomas, a highly knowledgeable and passionate sommelier. He shared fascinating insights not only about the wines but also about Hungarian history, making the experience truly immersive. All 8 wines we tasted were excellent. I walked away with a much deeper understanding of how Hungary’s diverse microclimates and soil compositions shape the unique character of its wines. Highly recommended!

This was a fun start to a Saturday evening out. I appreciate that the groups are small. As a solo traveler it made it very easy to chat with the other guests. The sommelier, Bolasz, was very knowledgeable but did not over complicate the tasting at all. The cellar setting is really nice. The charcuterie pairing was delicious as well! It’s a fun couple of hours, tasting delicious Hungarian wine, and making new friends.

They upgraded me for free to the deluxe experience courtesy of two of people booking that option, so that was very nice of them! Overall, informative and enjoyable, great quality wines and food, plus the sommelier resisted the urge to talk about aromas and flavours and stuck to the facts.

Fantastic experience! Had a really nice sommelier who talked us through the history of Hungary wine and the different wine regions. Food and wine was great, sadly felt a little rushed in the end and more time would have been nice.

If you enjoy learning about and drinking wine, I highly recommend this evening wine tasting. Our session was led by Sam ( I think that was his name), who was actually Spanish but very knowledgeable about Hungarian wine. We sampled eight different wines and all were delicious. Sam was very generous with his time (and his pours!) and our session went quite a bit longer than the allotted two hours. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the yummy cheese and charcuterie that accompanied our wines.
