This is genuinely one of the most wholesome and magical experiences you can have on the island. This unique tour offers the opportunity to interact with the beautiful Bajan swimming horses, as well as a fascinating journey through history at the Barbados Garrison Historic Area
First, get ready to be amazed as you arrive at the stunning Pebbles Beach in the cool of the morning where you'll witness the incredible sight of horses gracefully swimming in the ocean. You'll have the opportunity to interact with these gentle giants and capture unforgettable photos. You can even take a ride or swim with them! (Please note that this optional add-on cost is not included in the cost of this tour).
Then delve into the rich history of Barbados with a quick lap around the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Garrison Historic Area. Explore this captivating district with your knowledgeable guide, learning about its fascinating past from its military origins to its architectural and cultural significance.

Pebbles Beach
Each morning, handlers walk their horses from the Barbados Garrison down to the shore or Pebbles Bach (Carlisle Bay) for a bath & swim. On this part of the tour, you'll be picked up from your residence and chauffeured to the beach where you'll be able to experience these majestic animals and take some incredible photos. You can even ride or swim with them if you'd like! (Please note that the optional add-on cost of rides/swim is not included in your booking as this is charged by the horse handlers at the beach on the day of). Your guide will provide all of the interesting details of the horses' unique routine, and can assist you in interacting with the horses in any way you'd like.
Barbados Garrison
On the second part of the tour, you will briefly visit the Barbados Garrison Historic Area - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll take a drive around the Garrison while your guide teaches you all about the area's rich history, including the stories behind it's formation and architecture, the National Cannon Collection, the Barbados Museum, and the famous George Washington House. Stops will be made for photos.

5.00What an experience. Racehorses in the sea swimming and standing still with waves breaming around and over them. The guide, Liam, was very knowledgable about the reasoning behind this conditioning. The the tour of the Garison area, the racecourse, the stables, George Washingtons house, tunnels, the cannons suuounding the area and the history of Barbados. Excellent.

5.00Liam was very personable and gave us background information about the horses swimming in the ocean! What an amazing experience seeing the horses up front and personal! Liam also gave us a tour of the race track and background information about historic Barbados! Wonderful time!

5.00A wonderful sight of racehorses swimming in the sea as part of their daily routine. Plus historical information about the race course and the stables. Liam was our guide who was very knowledgeable and certainly kept the conversation going. He was a really good guide and would recommend this as a magical experience

5.00Liam was punctual in our hotel pickup. He was kind and extreme pleasant and gave us loads of time to see the horses, whilst informing us of the history relating to the horses. The trip to the garrison and the lovely cafe where we had drinks was a beautiful oasis and we also got to see the house where George Washington stayed. The tour was great value for money and I would highly recommend.

5.00Picked up by Liam who then took us to see the horses swimming at Carlisle bay. You can pay extra to ride bare back along the beach ( if you love horses definitely worth it) He then drove us past the garrison, a brief stop at the racetrack and then a coffee at a lovely little cafe. The whole time he was giving us lots of interesting historical facts. Liam was a fantastic guide, so friendly and knowledgeable. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend

5.00Fantastic experience. It is so much more than just seeing horses on the beach at sunrise (which would have been enough to make us happy in its own right). Liam was an excellent guide. He made everyone in the group feel at ease and he is so knowledgeable with great perspective as he grew up on Barbados and has also lived abroad. This is an excellent tour that anyone coming to the island should book. Highly recommended!

5.00Much more hhan expected...worth getting up for...what a view watching and joining in with the race horses swimming in sea..nice little tour of garrison afterwards..and then a lovely coffee at george washington house cafe.. Liam was perfect as our guide,so relaxed,no rushing about,we learnt some intresting history and and a good few laughs... Thanks for our day
