Wheel chairs or mobility scooters that can fold should be able to fit in the trunk space. We do not have a wheelchair lift.

Starrigavan Recreation Area
Starrigavan Recreation Area, just north of Sitka, Alaska, is a nature lover's paradise. Here you'll find a beautiful estuary teeming with birdlife, perfect for observing on the quarter-mile boardwalk trail. We can hop on the Forest to Muskeg trail for a short hike through spruce-hemlock forest and muskeg on various trails, keeping an eye out for resident brown bears, eagles, and deer.
Fortress of the Bear
The drive to Fortress of the Bear is a scenic adventure! Trade charming downtown for breathtaking Alaskan scenery - mountains, wildlife, and a glimpse of the local ecosystem! Keep your eyes peeled. Once we arrive, learn about rescued brown and black bears. A must-see stop!

5.00Booked ‘Beyond the Dock’ for a family of six ages 4-74. We all enjoyed the Fortress of Bear and Raptor Center. Keoloha picked us up at the dock and gave us a wonderful tour and shared a lot of information in the process. We had planned to be dropped in town and take the shuttle back but she said she would take us back whenever we wanted to go. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Kealoha.

5.00Amazing tour! One of the best tours we did in Alaska, in fact. Our guide, Gary, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area and wanted to teach and show us as much as possible. He was also incredibly kind and warm. I’d book this tour again in a heartbeat.

Gary picked us up in his very comfortable and spacious SUV and took us on the most informative incredible tour that we will remember for yours to come. Gary is a retired High School teacher and is so knowledgeable about Sitka an Alaska in general. He tailor made our tour to exactly what suited us. We loved his conversations and knowledge. Thank you Gary.

5.00Kealoha was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining - she knew the answer to most every question we could think of. She brought us to locations that aligned with our interests, and gave us good information along the way. The vehicle was comfortable and her driving was smooth and pleasant. 10 out of 10.

4.00Micheal did a great job of taking us to places of interest, very much enjoyed the short walk through the woods and the chance to see the bears in the refuge from a spot above. Some of the exhibits were still closed due to being early in the season but he managed to find places to enjoy. Micheal is very familiar with Sitka and enjoys showing off his home area. Being in a small group, just four of us, made it so much more possible to customize our tour. Thanks, Michael and my apologies for the meager tip, somewhere in transit the rest of it stayed in the pocket, noticed later when back on the ship.
