Temple of Demeter
Your first stop will be the Temple of Demeter, the most significant sight in Naxos. Hear about the history of the monument and the myth regarding the goddess it is devoted to. Enjoy free time to visit the on-site museum and take pictures. Your tour guide is not licensed, thus not allowed to guide you inside the monument. You will get all the information regaridng the site before you enter.
Continue to Kaloxylos, a serene village with 50 residents. Visit a historical building that houses the island’s first electric company and its first-ever olive press. Sample some extra virgin olive oil and explore the quaint alleys of the village..

5.00Excellent tour around some of the villages of Naxos. Only 4 of us in the group so made for a lovely atmosphere. Sandy was an excellent guide and told us plenty about the local villages and knew the best places for the food stops with recommendations of what to eat too!

5.00Learned so much about Naxian history, mythology, agriculture and culture from our guide, who grew up, and still lives, on one of the larger villages mountain villages. She provided the perfect amount of information during the drive from stop to stop: information to appreciate it's gifts, what we would do as a group, and when meet back at the mini bus, giving us time to explore on our own if we wanted. The tours of the olive oil and kitron making facilities included history, the process of making the products (still made today), and provided plenty of tastings. The tour felt intimate and authentic, and touring in a mini bus through the mountain roads was very comfortable. I felt that the tour was invaluable as a visitor to Naxos, both to the history and its culture today.

5.00Sandy was a great guide. We ended up with just four, so it was super intimate and very easy. She provided great details and information, and was very available for questions. Her pacing was great, and it was overall a fabulous way to get to know Naxos a little bit better! And - great suggestion on the orange cake! Adonis was a phenomenal driver, as well. He kept us safe and timely! Highly recommended!

5.00This tour was top notch. It’s the fourth I’ve taken on my trip to Greece and this was the best. The tour guide,Sandy, organized everything beautifully.. Pick up and drop off were seamless. She paced the 6 hr tour perfectly, keeping us moving but without rushing things. She provided a terrific balance between the guided tour and giving us free time to explore on our own. Her English is excellent. Her explanations were superb and were well a wonderful blend of history, mythology, religion, politics, culture, agriculture, food traditions, and of past and present. Altogether a great experience of the countryside and the mountains as we visited the Temple of Demeter and 3 villages. I also should mention the driver managed our van very smoothly and safely on mountain roads.

5.00The tour was wonderfully planned. Our guide Sandy was so knowledgeable. She was really good at letting us know the times for each place and being strict on scheduling while also ensuring the trip went smooth and was fun. The bus driver was impressive with some of the small roads we used, though do bring motion sickness pills for the end if that kind of thing bothers you. Each visit was quick but didnt feel rushed enough to not enjoy it. Highly suggest the watermelon pie she talks about in Halki!
Fun and engaging private tour. Well worth it.

5.00We did a private bus tour in minibus for 7 people. The tour at 4 hours was perfect and we were happy to see the interior of the island, the beautiful villages and other sites. Our guide Sandy for fun and made the tour really interesting. We really enjoyed her commentary. Thank you for a lovely half day tour.

5.00Everything about this tour was excellent, from pick up to drop off. Our lovely tour guide Aggeliki was very knowledgeable and friendly to everyone. She informed us about the historical sites we were seeing all along the way and answered everyone’s questions. She even had lunch with us – so fun! The tours of the olive oil, honey and ketron facilities were incredible and were a great experience. We were able to see village life in the countryside away from the port in Chora which we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We’re so glad we booked this tour! Other people in our group also expressed what a nice tour it was. Thank you very much to our wonderful guide, as well as our excellent driver for a truly amazing and unforgettable day!!!
