Everyone must go to Thethi.

Theth is a wonderful village in northern Albania’s Shkodra region. Set among the peaks of the Shala mountains, Theth is isolated, and in times of snow, practically inaccessible.

Edith Durham, a famous English traveler and writer on the Balkans, visited the area in 1908. She wrote of its seclusion:

‘I think no place where human beings live has given me such an impression of majestic isolation from the entire world. It is a spot where the centuries shrivel; the river might be the world’s well-spring, its banks the fit home of elemental instincts–passions that are red and rapid.’

Lezhe Castle

Our guide will pick you up early at the hotel in Tirana. Our first stop will be Lezha. Lezha is located in north Albania and is a region with thousands of years of history. In Lezha the League of Lezha was created under the order of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. After Lezha we are going toward Thethi.

Theth National Park

This unique mountain village easily has the most dramatic setting in Albania. To go to Thethi we need to drive through, Thore Pass. It is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.685m above sea level, located in the Albanian Alps. After that, we are in Thethi village and we are going to the guest house where the lunch is going to be served. After lunch, we are going to see the Tower of Thethi and the Church. The dinner will be with local food and a glass of raki, maybe two or three.

Blue Eye of Theth

After breakfast, we will start our trip to go to Grunasi waterfall, one of the most exceptional natural beauties in the Albanian Alps. To go to Grunasi waterfall we need to walk for about 1 hour. The next destination will be the Blue Eye. The location of this beauty is down on Kaprre, one of the most beautiful villages in the Alps. To reach the Blue Eye you must pass one of the rare beauties that is Grunas Canyon of Theth. To go to Blue Eye we need to walk for 2 hours. For the bravest, it is time to swim. I said that because the water is very cold over there. It is Time to go to Shkodra.

Rozafa Castle

In Shkodra we are going to stop for a short visit and for lunch near the lake. Shkodra, the traditional center of the Gheg cultural region, is one of the oldest cities in Europe and arguably the most attractive urban center in Albania. The ancient Rozafa Fortress has stunning views over Lake Shkodra, while the pastel-painted buildings in the Old Town have a distinct Italian ambiance. After the visit in Shkodra it is time to come back in Tirana.

Leo was a brilliant guide - really took good care of us and was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us a lot of history, and answered all our questions. The scenery is breathtaking and the tour activities are well planned. Highly recommend!

We had a great two-day trip to the north of Albania, with spectacular mountain views and amazingly green waters that invited to take a dip. We also visited historical sites and, throughout the trip, learned a lot about Albania's rich history. We had a fantastic guide who not only was generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge, but was also very accommodating and flexible and made sure we got the best out of our trip despite booking at last minute. A true pearl: discreetly shiny. Thank you so much, Leo!

Flori was great driver, very caring and with great sense of humor! We tried “Bujtina.. “ and loved the great food and the warm welcome. The pristine nature in Theth and blue eye was like no other on earth!

Fantastic trip of Northern Albania! Flori was our guide He was very attentive to our group of five: 3 children and 2 adults. We stopped in Lezh, Shkoder, visited Rozafa’s castle and finally Albanian Alps with the beautiful preserved Theth and blue eye! Food was fantastic and the people were very friendly and welcoming!

Theth is truly one of most beautiful places I have been to. I was lucky to be there in autumn with the hillsides awash in color. My guide Endri was an excellent driver, teller of tales, historian, and hiking companion. The two hikes were worth the effort. The guesthouse was okay. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys adventure and stunning scenery.

I normally never write reviews, but this one definitely deserves it - in only a positive way! Hands down, Leo was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. I was the only one for the trip to Theth and was already a bit skeptical about going alone and if it would be awkward, but Leo made sure to make me feel safe and comfortable during the whole time. Not only is he an incredible knowledgeable guide with a good sense of humour, but he’s also a very good photographer. I believe I stopped several times and took photos of every corner, but he was extremely patient and kind and kept asking if I wanted a picture taken. Thank you so much Leo for showing me the beauty of Albania and for giving me a unique, fun and an unforgettable trip!😊

We really had a great time on this trip it's awesome. Leo our tour guide is nice guy and very knowledgeable. During our road trip to Thethi we got the chance to listen to some of the Albanian songs and I really love it. In fact I downloaded some of them in my iTunes and keep listening to it. I highly recommend this guide as he has a lot of patience and he is always on the go with our trip. He brought us to Shkodra on a nice secluded part of the city, enjoyed our lunch with the lake view and a delicious meal. He has the good eye of taking a pictures and that is the big bonus for us. Leo thanks for showing us the beauty of Albania and the kindness and friendly Albanians.

This journey was amazing and one of the highlights of our trip to Albania. Our guide Mimi, made sure we were comfortable, informed and satisfied with the tour at all times. My husband and I love to take pictures and Theth is one of the most beautiful sites we have ever captured around the world. The hikes we did were moderate and the landscape was just breathtaking. I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone looking to get away from the city for a couple of days and be ready to be impressed by the gorgeous Albanian Alps.
