Paro Taktsang
Trip to Bhutan is never complete without climbing to Taktsang. In the morning, we will hike to Taktshang, Tiger’s Nest. The walk of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours uphill takes us almost a kilometre above the Paro valley floor (for those who cannot hike we will arrange a horse to transfer up to cafeteria). As you wind your way breathlessly up the long, steep path towards Taktsang Lhakhang, the monastery periodically reveals itself, rising out of the forest, closer and more solid with each reappearance. Historically, it is believed Guru Rinpoche, arrived here on the back of a flying tigress after defeating a troublesome local demon in the eighth century and spent months in meditation, Thus, the cave gets its name Lhakhang meaning "Tiger's Nest". It has been a place of pilgrimage ever since. Overnight at Paro; Note: The final approach to the Lhakhang must be made on foot - horses must turn around at the busy canteen roughly halfway up the mountain.

It was a wonderful journey visiting Pashupatinath and Muktinath. The Swotah Travel team not only planned everything perfectly but also stayed connected with us throughout the trip to make sure we were always at the right place and had no issues. They were extremely responsive, caring, and professional, and their constant communication gave us great comfort and confidence during the entire journey. Overall, it was a memorable and well-organized experience. Highly recommended to anyone planning a spiritual or adventure trip to Nepal!

We had a fantastic trip to Nepal and Bhutan and are more than happy to recommend Swotah travel. We decided on Swotah based on their itinerary and ability to customise as required. Additionally, the fact that they have a European representative makes communications so much easier as they will happen in real time and not time zone dependent. The organisation was pretty much perfect, with a few hiccups, but no more than what to expect for a longer trip and certainly nothing to complain about. The representatives were great, friendly and super helpful. The itinerary was packed and we're still digesting all the amazing sights and impressions, but overall, we would highly recommend Swotah, and we will most definitely contact them again if we decide to travel in that region again. For us, it was more of a cultural trip, but for the more adventurous there are lots of options too and judging from the amount of customisation available, I would say there is definitely something for everyone.

This review is for Pokhara leg of the trip. Left Kathmandu and travelled by 'tourist bus'. Took 10 hours in total - lots and lots of road construction work. Accommodation was the Heritage Suites - fabulous hotel, rooms beautifully furnished, staff friendly. Pokhara is nice. Next day was the start of a 4 day trek. Guide was Bijay and porter Sandji (hope names are spelt correctly) and they were excellent throughout. Reasonable amount of fitness required for the trek. Accommodation was as expected (do your research). Food was very good. Trek views were very good and spectacular at times. Returned to Pokhara and again stayed at the Heritage Suites. And again it was the tourist bus back to Kathmandu taking slightly longer
