GOOD NEWS UPDATE 04/Dec 25 The Yorke Bay area has been reopened and there are healthy adult Gentoo penguins there.

This is an active tour providing a rich overview of the wildlife, historic points of interest and what it is like to live in the Falklands.

We will visit Gypsy Cove to see Magellanic penguins and harbour views, before moving on to Yorke Bay to see the Gentoo penguins.

A brief stop at the iconic ship wreck Lady Elizabeth provides great photographs and an understanding of the geographic importance of the Falklands during the sailing ship days.

During the tour of Stanley we will pass by the 1982 and 1914 war memorials, and other points of interest in Stanley.

NB: 04/12/2025 Yorke Bay is again open to the public. In the event that Yorke bay is closed at any point during the season we will extend the tour to both the East (Sapper Hill, Wireless Ridge areas) and the West of Stanley (Cape Pembroke, Surf Bay) to ensure you enjoy the maximum coverage of the Stanley area. Please be assured that while there may be less penguins, the replacement content and quality of our guides will ensure that you will be well informed about all things Falklands from start to finish.

Lady Elizabeth Shipwreck

Lying at the east end of Stanley Harbour is Stanley's most imposing and iconic shipwreck. Known as Lady Liz, the ship was launched in Sunderland in the UK in 1879 and suffered damage whilst rounding Cape Horn in 1913. She limped into Stanley for repairs but the high cost prevented any being carried out. After various moorings in Stanley Harbour, a violent gale in 1936 forced the Lady Liz into her current resting place. This is a favourite place to get pictures with the back drop of Stanley and the mountains to the West.

Good excursion from Port Stanley tender boat terminal. Visited penguin colonies not so far away from the port that included Magellanic, Gentu and Royal Penguins

Nice enough people, just way over priced. The hop on - hop off takes you to the same two spots for $20 each person. About a 10 min longer walk at the 2nd stop using hop on - hop off, but saves you about $230 USD per couple. And if you arrive on a Princess cruise and don't have Elite status, good chance of missing this tour no matter how hard you try getting an early tender, because you have low Princess priority

You need to know that the company is Travel Falklands with a stand outside the visitor center with a viator logo on. We had an issue as Viator doesn't put the name of the company on the ticket. Sharon was humorous, full of interesting history and the day to day lives of the Islanders. Penguins were great to see.

Sharon was amazing rebooking the tour after our cruise was rerouted. Wendy gave us a fantastic commentary on the history, day-to-day living in the Falklands so that you really got to know and understand the island (1 of 736) in a very short and delightful way. Loved seeing the penguins. Be sure to wear shoes that can handle gravel, rocks and sand. We couldn’t have gotten a better tour!

Sharon was great at communicating and answering questions prior to our tour. She also kept us up to date on the bird flu that had invaded some areas. Luckily, we were able to everything we planned on. There is walking over gravel roads, sand and sand dunes and peat. We were also able to go over some rocky areas that took us a bit off the beaten path. We saw penguins, seals and local birds. We would recommend this for anyone who doesn’t want to do the cruise tours. No headphones required and it was so informative! Believe we saw more than we would have with a big tour. Just met Sharon right off the tender. Very easy meet up. There were just three of us and it was very fun!

The tour representative was easy to find. The tour operators, the tour company owners, were very very friendly. One was a multi generation Falklander and very knowledgeable on everything Falkland and the tour. We saw what we were promised with the most time spent at the most penguin populated stop. The tour operators. were very customer satisfaction oriented.

Our two guides were very informative and entertaining about the history of the Falkland Islands and about the flora and fauna. Our visit to see penguins in the sand dunes was exceptional.

Sharon and the driver were excellent hosts. Sharon, a 6th generation resident of the Falkland’s was so knowledgeable, interesting and funny. Great tour - saw so many penguins and well worth the money! They met us at the port and we were off within minutes. Thanks!
