NB: 04/12/2025 Yorke Bay is again open to the public. In the event that Yorke bay is closed at any point during the season we will extend the tour to both the East (Sapper Hill, Wireless Ridge areas) and the West of Stanley (Cape Pembroke, Surf Bay) to ensure you enjoy the maximum coverage of the Stanley area. Please be assured that while there may be less penguins, the replacement content and quality of our guides will ensure that you will be well informed about all things Falklands from start to finish.
Lady Elizabeth Shipwreck
Lying at the east end of Stanley Harbour is Stanley's most imposing and iconic shipwreck. Known as Lady Liz, the ship was launched in Sunderland in the UK in 1879 and suffered damage whilst rounding Cape Horn in 1913. She limped into Stanley for repairs but the high cost prevented any being carried out. After various moorings in Stanley Harbour, a violent gale in 1936 forced the Lady Liz into her current resting place. This is a favourite place to get pictures with the back drop of Stanley and the mountains to the West.

A great excursion that gets you out and about as you see the various topologies of Port Stanley and enjoy observing penguins in their natural habitat. Given the weather can be unpredictable we were late in arriving for the excursion as our tender could not leave the cruise ship. However the organizer made special arrangements to have someone meet us while she left with the other clients. It was greatly appreciated. Our excursion was not cut short and we were able to partake in all the activities stated.

Our goal was to see penguins up close and we did. 3 different types. Just be aware that there is about a mile of walking between two stops, on rocky path and on sand. Beautiful fine white sand BTW. Our guide Wendy, a Stanley native of 8 genrrations, was very informative.

Excellent contact. There are lots of tour operators at the cruise jetty when you arrive by tender and we couldn't find them at first but asked another operator who pointed us in the right direction. The van was comfortable and there were about a dozen of us on the your. The weather was very windy and at times wet. Wendy our guide was informative and a 6th generation Falkkand Islander. We thought we would have got a bit closer to the penguins but avian flu is about so I think they were protecting them.

Showed up at the designated meeting point in Stanley at 12:00 PM, the exact time specified in the tour details, and waited over 30 minutes in extremely cold weather. No tour operator ever arrived, and there was no communication, call, or explanation. I contacted the operator multiple times while waiting at the port and again afterward in an attempt to resolve the issue and request a refund. Despite this, they continued to place fault on me, even though their own tour information clearly states a 12:00 PM meeting time. This was a complete waste of time and money. I would strongly recommend avoiding this tour unless you want to be aggravated and risk losing your money.

Our guide Bob is witty and can genuinely feel he enjoyed and protected wild life. He is knowledgeable about flora and fauna and animals. I am sure if we have more time together we would be able to learn much more from him.

As mentioned there is some walking over sand dunes and this location is subject to winds. It is definitely worth it for the variety of vistas as well as the penguin sittings.

Sharon was an excellent tour guide. Very kind and entertaining and, above all, knowledgeable. We got to see several Magellanic penguins, Gentoo penguins and four king penguins. Additionally, we had exceptional weather. All in all a lovely day in port.

A very interesting and historical place at the bottom of the world. Great tour guide and owner of the tour company. Great sense of humor and provided homemade cookies and mulled wine. Super sense of humor. Need prepared for fast changing weather.

The tour was fabulous! The tour guide (I “think” her name is Sharon) was exceptional as was our driver. She was thoroughly familiar with the island, history, government and wildlife. We heard all about the war with Argentina and how it all evolved. He got seats in the front of the bus and they were comfortable.

This is a visit to some of the smaller rookeries - no close up experience of the larger penguin colonies, nevertheless a wonderful experience. On the way there you look at the lady Elizabeth ship wreck, and afterwards a circuit of the settlement, pointing out significant features and history of the falklands . We finished at the historical museum just down from the whalebone arches. This was a great place to conclude the tour. Whilst the small tour company did their best to communicate, because of the limited mobile / wireless services you do need to get all details sorted in advance. Virtually no .eSIMs cover the falklands. You will get a lot out of this if you ask lots of questions - they are very knowledgable. Weather wise, the wind can cut right through you so be prepared to layer up and have scarf and glove options. Breathable waterproof shoes are good. If you are coming off a cruise ship on a water tender get your tickets early in case of any delays
