Senso-ji Temple

Sensoji is one of Tokyo's most historic and significant Buddhist temples. Situated in Asakusa district, the temple is believed to have been established in 645 AD, making it Tokyo's oldest temple. Sensoji is also famous for its dramatic main gate, called Kaminarimon, or "Thunder Gate". Beyond the Kaminarimon, visitors pass through a lively shopping street called Nakamise, which has been selling traditional goods and souvenirs for centuries.
