These twin pagodas were built to honor the 60th birthday of the King and Queen in 1987 and 1992 respectively. One is called Naphamethinidon, meaning "by the strength of the land and air", and the other, Naphaphonphumisiri, meaning "being the strength of the air and the grace of the land". Our guide was amazing - really friendly and funny and told us lots of interesting facts. We were also accompanied by 2 local Karen guides on the hike portion of the trip who were invaluable! They'd point out interesting plants and animals that I would have completely missed otherwise because they blended in so well with the environment. Great tour - highly recommend, especially if you like nature!

We had a fantastic time on this trip. The best thing we’ve done in Thailand so far. It’s quite a way out of the city but the air conditioned bus was comfortable. We stopped at an amazing waterfall first, then went on to trek in the national park. We saw 3 snakes and a giant spider which were pointed out by our local guide. The walk was really interesting and not too challenging. Lunch in the Karen village was delicious and the coffee is amazing. After the hike we went on to the highest spot in Thailand. The cooler air was a welcome relief (19c). Then we went on to the twin pagodas which were also well worth seeing. We stopped at a market on the way back before being dropped off at our hotel. The whole day lasted from 7:30am till 6 pm. The day was very well organised and our guide, Q, was absolutely brilliant. He knew everything we wanted to know at each stop and even taught us some Thai phrases during the day, he was a really lovely guy. Great trip. 10/10. Definitely recommend.
