5.00I have enjoyed cooking classes in various countries around the world. This family led experience was so joyful. Grandma was a joy and we had wonderful conversation and they were great at answering all my questions. Highly recommend this experience.

5.00This was a very nice experience. We were picked up promptly at our hotel as agreed. Our guides, Oli and Abraham were super nice and communicated very clearly with us before the tour. Prior to the cooking lesson they took us to the market to show us where the produce and spices came from. The class was fun and easy. We got a terrific introduction to Ethiopian cuisine. If you have a free morning or open afternoon, I highly recommend this cooking class.

5.00I was picked up on time and brought back without any issues, which made everything very convenient. The cooking class was a lot of fun, and the instructions were explained very clearly, so even beginners like me could follow easily. I learned a lot, enjoyed preparing delicious dishes, and felt very welcomed throughout the experience. I recommend this class to anyone who wants to explore local cuisine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere!

5.00Having been let down at 7am on the day of a tour by another provider, I signed up to do a cooking class. This was so worthwhile. It is not simply about just the food, you get a glimpse into the life and living of the inhabitants of Addis. Liyu Ethiopia Tours were excellent hosts. I was collected from my hotel at 10am, communication was excellent. A young gentleman called Oli collected me from my hotel with a driver. For young man his knowledge of food, ingredients and Ethiopian food was extraordinary, and really added to my experience. In summary a tour round Sola market to walk through the food quarter, which is really insightful and then to his family home for a simply brilliant time learning how to cook with the ingredients we had just purchased. The watchful of Gran was a real bonus too. I cannot speak too highly of this. Book this tour for a real experience above and beyond cooking.

5.00My teens and I took this Ethiopian cooking class yesterday, and it was absolutely wonderful! We didn’t just learn to make injera and other traditional dishes — we truly experienced Ethiopian culture from the inside. The class was very hands-on, and instead of feeling like a formal or sterile cooking demonstration, we were welcomed into someone’s home. We chopped, stirred, and laughed together while learning step by step, and then ended with a coffee ceremony that made the whole experience feel complete. My kids loved how interactive it was, and I loved how authentic and personal it felt. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to connect with Ethiopian food and hospitality, this class is a must. It’s the kind of travel experience you’ll remember long after the trip is over!

5.00Please book this tour. The hospitality I have been shown in Ethiopia so far cannot be put into words. This isn’t just a cooking class - it is an opportunity to experience authentic Ethiopia with an amazing family. Even more than the cooking class (which was great by the way), the opportunity to spend time with this family cannot be missed! They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable at all times. If you are wavering on if you should book this or not and reading the reviews, JUST DO IT! I guarantee that you will not be disappointed! It’s also excellent for solo travelers. I went alone and I felt like I was part of the family.

5.00This was a wonderful tour! Authentic and warm welcome with a true family feel. John, sister Helen and mama make you feel right at home and immerse you in Ethiopian culture. From buying spices at the market to serving coffee in a traditional ceremony, we had a lot of laughter and learned so much. And the food was so tasty! I would highly recommend
