What To Expect

De Helper is a polder mill on the eastern shore of the Paterswoldsemeer in the municipality of Groningen, in the hamlet of Nijveensterkolk. The mill was built in 1863 south of the city of Groningen for the drainage of the Helpman polder using a screw pump.

The name of the lake is sometimes written together and sometimes separately; both spellings are correct. The lake was created by the suction of the sand layer under a peat layer.
