We booked this cooking class through our resort and I’m so happy we did. I would say it was the best part of our Belize adventure. Brought to us by the most generous Mayan family. We learned how to cook tasty authentic Mayan dishes from scratch. And when I say scratch I mean nothing was premade, pre-assembled or precooked. Corn was ground then soaked and assembled with our hands into a tortilla. For a novice it was a really fun challenge. From there we cooked them over an open flame grill, added freshly cooked chicken and new types of vegetables. All from the families garden. Also made tamales using banana leaves growing next to the grill. I can’t believe how much flavor we’re missing in the US. It’s a Must Visit spot on your Belize vacation.
