The House of the Virgin Mary

House of Virgin Mary is the place where Mary may have spent her last days. Indeed, she may have come in the area together with Saint John. This place was offically declared a shrine of the Roman Catholic Church in 1986, and since then it has become a popular place of pilgrimage. Pope Paul VI visited shrine in 1967. The visit to the House (church) takes about 45 minutes and after our visit; there will be a 5 min drive to Ephesus.

We did the all-inclusive 7 hr small group tour from Kusadasi cruise port which included the cost of admission tickets and lunch. We had a wonderful time with our tour guide, Mehmet, who was very kind and knowledgeable. There were 8 of us in total on the tour and we were met promptly at the cruise port with clear communication beforehand. The large van was very comfortable and brought us to see all the historic sites including the house of Virgin Mary, Ephesus, Temple of Artemis and an extra drive by of the Basilica of St. John. Lunch was delicious at a Turkish rug factory and we also had extra stops to sample Turkish Delight and to try out glass blowing! Mehmet really went above and beyond when my young daughter left her newly purchased wooden flute on the van at drop off and they turned around to bring it back to us without any hesitation. Highly recommend!!

Erdal and Gul were the best!!! We went to so many places, but it was a very comfortable experience. Our guides were hospitable and attentive to us.

Mel, our guide was amazing. Very professional, knowledgeable and easy going. 👍🏻👍🏻 She pointed out all the important things but allowed us to dictate the speed/length of the tour.

The Celsus Library was breathtaking. It was very well maintained and out tour guide was humorous and informative. The house of the Virgin Mary and learning the history was wonderful to. Have to say we were impressed with this tour and would recommend to others.

Nizam was an excellent guide, not only with a lot of knowledge on the history and archaeology of the ruins and surrounding area, but also with shopping tips and tourism info in Sirince.
