A stunning 9km / 5.5 mile forest walk following the winding Water of Nevis to the dramatic Steall Falls. The route meanders through the rocky Nevis Gorge and opens to the panoramic landscape of Glen Nevis.
Steall Falls is third highest waterfall in Scotland and cascades 105 meters down the rock face. In Gaelic it's called An Steall Bàn meaning "The White Spout". This iconic area is featured in two Harry Potter films.
At the end of the walk, there's a wire rope bridge over the river for the adventurous!
You'll walk with Trev, your friendly local guide. The path is a little rocky and muddy in places, so he's on hand to help if needed. Plus, he's always happy to take photos.
Feel free to bring along a picnic if the weather is nice. A blanket can be provided.
This is a family friendly walk for 13+ year olds that are comfortable with the distance and terrain.
Please note that if it's not rained for a while, the waterfalls won't be flowing fast.

From the car park we'll visit the nearby Polldubh Falls. We'll then walk through the forest, along the banks of the Water of Nevis. There are lots of small waterfalls and pools along the way. We'll cross Paddy’s Bridge to the road for a short walk to the start of Nevis Gorge. The terrain get's a little steeper and rocky, but your guide is on hand to help. At the end of the gorge, we exit into the stunning Glen Nevis. A short walk takes us to the imposing Steall Falls waterfall. There are numerous viewpoints to see the falls. There's also a wire rope bridge for anyone feeling adventurous. We'll walk back on the same route, but the views change in the opposite direction. I'll contact you before the hike to confirm clothing & equipment and answer any questions. I'll also send an online Medical & consent form.

5.00We had Trev as our guide and walked to Steal Falls. It was wonderful and he told us a lot and was very helpful to explain everything. We had a lovely time. If you like to walk and see beautiful nature I would advise you to do this with Trev.

5.00Trevor was an amazing guide, and I would 100% recommend booking him for a hike in the beautiful Highlands. He not only was prepared ahead of time with clear and advanced communication on what the hike would entail, what kind of clothes to wear, etc. but was also prepared during the hike for any situation that could arise. His certification as a guide gave me peace of mind that he was ready for anything, knowledgeable about the terrain, and experienced enough in the travel space to make it a great day. Not to mention how kind and personable he is! I truly enjoyed his company on the hike, and our wide-ranging conversation. He was also flexible on the time to allow me to make a later start so I could take the bus in from town. Bonus is that his partner runs a Scotland travel blog called Wander Somewhere that I found out about through him, and it was super helpful for ideas of what to do and where to eat while I was in Edinburgh. I will definitely book with Trevor again if I am fortunate enough to get to go back to Scotland!

5.00Hiking accessible to beginners, it climbs but in good weather it is very pleasant No drinking on the site, parkkng is free but very small
