Tianmen Fox Fairy Show is the first large-scale landscape music drama set in the nature with high mountain peaks and a canyon as background. The music drama is performed in the canyon which runs from the front entrance of the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Zone to the top of Tianmen Mountain. Based on the story of "Liu Hai Chopping Firewood," a play from the traditional Flower Drum Opera of Hunan province, it tells the touching love story between a fox fairy and Liu Hai, a poor but happy lumberjack and showcases glorious lifestyle scenes of western Hunan.

You will be pickup up and transferred to the theater and then driven back to your hotel after the performance.

Be noted: the theater is located in downtown Zhangjiajie, you are suggested to book your hotel located in downtown.

Tianmen Fox Fairy Show

At 19:30PM, our driver will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel and then transfer you to Tianmenshan Canyon Theater to enjoy Tianmen Fox Fairy Show which starts at 8:15pm daily. Your driver will make sure that you arrive at the theater 15 minutes before the show. There are a total of 3,050 seats at Tianmen Fox Fairy Show, and super VIP seats are are from A1 to A6 sections which offers best views of the audio-visual feast. After the show, your driver will send you back to your hotel. Plot Introduction Re-conceived with ingenious choreography and incorporated with folk songs of Sangzhi and Tujia ethnic minorities, the classic Hunan folklore love story, "Liuhai Kan Qiao,” recounts the twists and turns of the love story between human and fox. Tianmen Fox Fairy Show is comprised of five scenes: The Fox King Selects Wife, The Encounter in Fairy Mountains, Lovesick Under Moonlight, The Storm of Betrayal, and The waiting of A Millennium.

We had a driver and guide for 4 days, who brought us to key Zhangjajie sights including the Fox Fairy show which was amazing! Our guide (Max) was knowledgeable and friendly, and made our entire journey very smooth, without long queues, and enjoyable. His meals / restaurant recommendations were also good - tasty food at reasonable price! Would recommend this private tour.

The Fox Fairy show is a spectacular large scale production staged at the foot of the Tianmen mountain. The music, dance,solo and choral singing, combined with special stage and lighting effects, was world-class and probably one of the best live stage performances we have seen . Our very friendly tour guide, Vicky Liu, brought us to the VIP section of the seats, which gave us an excellent view of the entire stage. We would strongly recommend the Fox Fairy show when you are in Zhangjiajie city.

The Fox fairy Show is an incredible play, even the locals recommend watching it! Only shown in Zhangjiajie, it is a play written about the love between a farmer boy and a fox girl. (In Chinese mythology, these spirit foxes are shunned upon and seen as evil). The Private transfer service was so comfortable and efficient. Andy from Viator is kind and helpful, he even managed to get us a ride from the Dujiangyan area and back! The venue is located under the Tianmen Mountain entrance in the city centre (1hour drive away from us!) Sorry for the hassle. If you are staying in the Wulingyuan area, I would recommend watching the fox fairy show on the same day you explore the Tianmen mountain. (Instead we had to rush to catch the show). But we had so much fun with Viator!

The driver was on time, very professional and even kindly slowed down while passing close to a place I wanted to take pictures along the way. The places for the show were very good and the show itself was great!

It is worth getting there a little earlier, as some performers in their costumes in front of the building offer the opportunity to take a photo together for free. I was picked up on time by the driver, who then organised the actual ticket for me on site. The VIP area is located behind the last row above. Personally, unfortunately, I found it a bit far away from the stage. The show itself and the performers are world-class and this should not be missed. The setting is unique. There are subtitles on two monitors in English, Japanese and Korean. The driver waited until the show ended, about 1 hour.

The driver speaks English and he even gave us some advice on activities to do in Zhangjiajie. We had a great time at the show. There are English subtitles so it was easy to understand the show.
