Wadi Rum Protected Area
After exploring Petra, you'll head to Wadi Rum, which is about 2 hours drive away. Wadi Rum is a desert valley that is famous for its stunning rock formations and red/yellow sand dunes. You'll have 2 hours jeep tour of the valley, which will take you to some of the most beautiful sites in the area and take a nice picture then return back to amman.

4.00If you're the type of person who likes to get in and get out, then this tour is a great option. I did the shared tour with a small group and there was plenty of space in the van for everyone. We arrived to Petra around 10am and had 2.5 hours to explore. I did the Main Trail and was able to get to Qasr al-Bint in 1.25 hours. I used the other 1.25 hours to walk back and get some food with plenty of time to spare. If you want to hike up the other trails or do the Monastery, just plan it out carefully and maybe start from the back side. There are many people offering rides back to the entrance on the trails (please don't ride the animals if you really don't have to though!) Lunch was buffet style at Alqantarah Restaurant. It was 12 JOD flat without drinks (so you may as well bring your own tray to stash away some food and get your money's worth!) and they did not accept credit card, only cash. I recommend the tour company to inform people of this ahead of time. Wadi Rum was a scenic van drive. This part is more like an organized guided tour. We stopped at the Mushroom Rock, French Fortress, and Lawrence of Arabia Cave for brief exploring and photos. The driver Saqr was timely but communication and coordination could have been a bit better. Luckily everything turned out okay. He did check to make sure we had our belongings before leaving places. It's a long day with a lot of driving, but you get to see a lot!

5.00Amazing experience need minimum 3 hours. Our driver Tareq was amazing! Very informative along the way and gave useful tips about possible back hand deals and back passages that you should opt to avoid from the locals.

5.00Jordan is incredible and this was a very long day made memorable by our driver - Mahmoud ALKHAWAJA. This option of Petra and Wadi Rum requires a great deal of driving from Amman and back. Mahmoud was flexible, fun and created a great environment in the car. We all relaxed and had an incredible day.

5.00It was a long but truly wonderful day. Zyad picked us up from our hotel at 6 a.m., and we spent around three hours exploring Petra, followed by two hours in Wadi Rum. The total trip was about 13 hours. In Wadi Rum, our local Bedouin guide, Qusaey, was exceptional — highly knowledgeable, welcoming, and very much recommended. The only downside was the shop we stopped at along the way, which we found to be a little overpriced. Overall, Zyad proved to be a reliable driver and an excellent tour guide. I would happily recommend him.
