Because of constant volcanic activity, you'll find white sands and black sands on the island of Hawaiʻi. Located on the southeastern Kaʻū coast, Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach is one of the most famous black sand beaches in Hawaiʻi. Located between the towns of Pāhala and Nāʻālehu in Kaʻū, Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach's jet black shores are an unforgettable sight. Coconut palms fringe the upper edge of sand and you may also discover large honu, (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles), basking on the beach. Our tour guide Drama was amazing. Very informed with local history. She suggested a local restaurant and it was fantastic. The tour was a very long day, filled with mazing sights.
See the big island and get back in time before the ship leaves.

The itinerary was exactly what I wanted. It was a full-on day, but it had to be because there was so much territory to cover. Michael was friendly and knowledgeable. I would have given it 5 stars, but there was still some empty water bottles, etc, left in the car from the prior tour.

Our tour guide, Dramma, was incredible. We had the most amazing experience. The volcano site was probably our favorite part, but all of it was incredible. Highly recommend.

The trip was advertised to leave at 7:30 am and we would be picked up at the hotel, but the reality was a start time of 11 am and then to drive 40 minutes to be picked up. We got back at 8:15pm due to the late start. There was lack of communication between the guide and her boss with whom I had communicated a couple of times.The guide was as nice a person as you will find and had historical knowledge of the island and it’s legends, but apparently had not bathed in several days due to body odor. Guide wore clothes that were much bigger than her size to cover up a bikini type bathing suit based on the top underneath the partially open shirt. Water was advertised as well, but it was never offered until requested and then only 4 room temperature water bottles were available for five participants for the whole trip. For the amount of money charged for the excursion, we expected a more. This is an honest description of our experience.

Our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, we where very much impressed with Dramma, she went far and beyond to please us. We highly recommend her if I could give her 10 stars I would.
