Overall, it was a very nice trip; we toured a large part of Slovakia. The castles and churches I visited were very beautiful, with excellent views, as was the lake. Our driver and guide, Roman, did the best he could to ensure we had a great experience despite the cold and the limited time, and overall he was excellent at his job. > On the negative side were the very cold weather (the trip took place on New Year’s Eve), the fact that we were rushing in order to see everything, and the many hours spent in the car. > On the positive side were Roman and everything else.

If you want to experience nature and history of Slovakia outside of Bratislava, this is a perfect tour. It takes you to village, castle, mountain and lake. Our Tour Guide Michael was fantastic and knowledgeable. He takes care of every details.

I had the pleasure of traveling with Maria, who was very friendly throughout. He took us to Orava Castle, the High Tatras, Čičmany and the town and castle of Trenčin. In addition, at each point visited we were giving more information about the places we were visiting. Fully recommended!

I didn't visit any of the sites listed, one due to bad weather which can't be helped but the other two were closed on the day. There was no notice of this in advance and so the tour guide had to make up the itinerary, which was difficult because most options were closed. The guide was amazing and did all they could to make the best of a bad situation. They were left without any help from the operator throughout the day and so it was a really disappointing trip but mainly because the tour operator were neglectful with their communication and unsurprisingly silent when it comes to seeking a refund. This was a significant part of my stay in Slovakia and I can't help but feel let down by them as an organisation.

Great way to spend a day away from the city. The Slovak countryside almost looks too perfect. You almost feel like if you keep walking towards it, you’ll hit a painted background. Had a great lunch at a log cabin, and saw a very old village. Great time.

What an amazing experience! Jan, our guide and driver, was super friendly and knowledgeable. Our trip varied slightly from the original plan where we visited a different castle to the one listed in the tour, however it turned out to be great and it actually allowed us to make it to the High Tatras sooner and spend more time, before the sun set. Many thanks to Jan for a wonderful day and I look forward to my next visit to Slovakia :) Dakujem

Scandalous! The guides changed the entire program of the excursion, without asking the participants for consent. We did not visit Bojnice Castle (even from outside) or Čičmany. They took us to the lake but instead of staying 3 hours, as written in the program, we were only half an hour. This is because they had the brilliant idea to take us on a trek (not planned) in the morning, which lasted longer than expected because the zip line we had to take was closed for maintenance (the guides had not inquired). So we had to do the ascent on foot, 40 minutes uphill to get to the top station of the zip line and then another 30 minutes to get to the final destination, along stony and muddy paths without suitable clothing or shoes. Some of the people in the group were not well trained enough and had to stop halfway. We returned to the transfer at 16 and arrived at the lake at 16.30. I find it absurd that until 4.30 pm we had not yet visited anything that was written in the program. The lake was beautiful, I would have liked to stay longer. Then on the way back they took us to a UNESCO heritage village, really nice and special. Too bad that the sun had already set and you could not even take some nice pictures. I came home really unhappy and disappointed. I had chosen this excursion mainly to visit the castle and Čičmany, because in the mountains I already go there every year in Italy. 120 euros to go trekking I would never have spent it and I am considering asking for a refund.

Our rating is a 3 based on what it should have been. Our actual experience was less, and most people from our group are going to be requesting a refund. Our tour was not representative of what this tour should have been however, as the tour guide decided to reverse the itinerary order. The reason given was so we would not run out of daylight at our alpine location. Since the sun is currently setting at 6:30, the site was 4 hours away from Bratislava, and we were scheduled to return at 9:00, this simply doesn't make sense. This decision was a tragic error for our tour. Going in the direction our tour took, we were supposed to have a 1 hour guided walk around the lake, then 2 hours additional free time. We had a total of 1 1/2 hours, 15 minutes of which was guided up to the edge of the lake. We were supposed to have a 1.5 hour stop at Bojnice Castle, with a 1 hour overlook stop at dramatic ruins of Becknov. Instead, by the time we arrived at the castle - our 2nd stop of the day - it was already closed for the day. And apparently the only English speaking tour is at 1:00, so we would have missed the history anyway. That said, it was a beautiful castle, and we enjoyed our 20 minutes walking around the outside of it. Very picturesque! By the time we got to Cicmany, it was 6:00. Everything was closed, even the WCs. We were supposed to get an hour tour here, but instead got a 10 minute presentation from the guide. By this time, everyone else on the tour was extremely upset, and just wanted to get pictures before it got dark. The day wasn't helped by an extreme cold front. 4 degrees at the alpine location. (40 F?) There was also a lot of traffic that supposedly made our arrival at the castle so late. We are a very laid back group. We feel we DID get to see a lot of the Slovakian countryside, which was our goal. We were expecting a lot of driving, but not 10 hours out of a 13 hour day. If the guide had not flipped the order, it would still have been too long of a driving day schedule. Despite these issues, we did enjoy our guide, who was friendly, talked about her life and Slovakian culture, and shared local Slovakian snacks with us. We just wish we hadn't had an abbreviated visit, closed facilities, or a completely skipped stop for every location on the promised itinerary.

We had an amazing time on this trip. The day turned out to be a bit longer than we expected, but it was worth it. The trip was well-organized, and we visited some incredibly picturesque sights along the way. Our guide, Lucky was very entertaining and well informed. Cicmany was a short visit and we could buy tickets on site. The visit to Bojnice Palace was a bit longer and took quite a bit of walking, but it’s absolutely worth it. The tour through the palace was guided, and we purchased the tickets online while on the way. Before getting into the palace, we had the opportunity to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant nearby the entrance. The last on the program was to visit the lake in High Tatras, we arrived before sunset and had a chance to walk around the lake. The lake was absolutely beautiful. There was quite a few people but was not overcrowded. Thought we had bus transportation we did quite a bit of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must, and reaching the mountain to the palace involved winding serpentine paths. During the day it was very nice temperature, but at the lake it was rather cold. We used card payments for tickets, lunch, and souvenirs, but we were informed that some places only accept cash.
