Penhas da Saúde (Category Villages in Protected Areas) Located at an altitude of around 1500m, Penhas da Saúde is located in the heart of Serra da Estrela, surrounded by fauna and flora that make you take your breath away. The charm of Penhas da Saúde is not exhausted, however, in the white mantle that invades the horizon in the winter months. With the melting of the snow in mid-April, new colors appear in the landscape, unique tones that are unmissable for anyone who wants to feel nature. Despite being an eminently tourist location, with several hotel structures and close to the Ski Resort, it maintains the spirit of a mountain community, where tourist modernity lives side by side with nature. Set out to discover mountain trails, enjoy a mountain bike ride or simply contemplate the mountain through the silence that only nature allows.
Senhora da Boa Estrela
In the middle of Serra da Estrela, is carved in low relief, in the rock, the Senhora da Boa Estrela, patroness of the Shepherds, inaugurated in 1946. The author of this sculpture was the priest António Duarte,

The route to Serra da Estrela is beautiful but one should drive with caution, very narrow road.

2.00A very different place than we saw in the pictures. Place in decadence without option for meal only snacks with the traditional sheep cheese. What saved the trip to it was the landscape.

5.00Tour of Portugal, starting from Lisbon, climbing by coast, Fatima, Nazare, Aveiro, Porto, Braga, by rental car, 2334 kms, coming from Guimaraes, passing by River Douro, Trancoso, with good roads, spectacular view...no snow in Covilha, on site, but quite cold... Gouveia , White Castle back to Lisbon

5.00We booked this tour at the last minute and we had a great time! We were the only ones so that was a bit special! Alex led us to a variety of places and related a lot about the area and its history. The scenery is spectacular and gives a different feeling of Portugal. The cheese and liquor tasting was fun and we had a taste of some uniquely local beverages. Alex was very informative, engaging and spoke excellent English.

5.00Great guides sharing stories, stunning views and knowledge of the Serra da Estrela. We had a wonderful experience and saw all fascinating highlights of the area and had it all explained. We both had time with the guides - and some time to explore the top of Serra Da Estrela on our own.

5.00The park and the sights were amazing, they are worth the detour by Covilha! Delicious tasting of local cheeses, liquors and meat. Our guide Alex also explained the history of the region which was very interesting and completed the tour

5.00An unparalleled experience in the Portuguese Alps. Beautiful nature and more than charming villages. The national park is beautiful and the cheese of the region is not even spoken

5.00Impressive place, very high, a lot of curve to get to the top, but there are natural pools, among the mountains, and rocks, which are stunning. Always bring a blouse, la venta absurdly, there are ski pistes, for whoever is in the winter.
