At more than 3,460 meters high is the archaeological center of Perolniyoq, in the district of Ollantaytambo (Urubamba – Cusco). For centuries, Perolniyoq was covered by vegetation; nevertheless, the little care threatened that this architectural and archaeological jewel disappeared completely.
It sits on the Soqma the Perolniyoc waterfall, which has a drop of 45 meters of pure, crystal clear water. In this place were built two-storey houses, Qolqas that served as warehouses, lodging rooms called kallankas and a ceremonial enclosure.

At 7:00 am we will come to pick you up from your hotel in Cusco, we will drive through the sacred valley passing through Chinchero, Urubamba, where we will appreciate the scene that shows us this amazing place and in 1 hour and 30 minutes we will arrive at our first place of visit Ñaupa Church. Ñaupa Church was a very special huaca, because in addition to being a place of worship to the mallquis (mummies) of their ancestors (as shown by the large niche or the stone wall niche), it had to be the site of great announcements of associated astronomical events to the fulfillment of rituals in specific dates of the agricultural calendar, the alignments demonstrate it.

The water of the Perolniyoc waterfall has a drop of approximately 45m, and with an exceptionally particular mark, in its fall, a thin layer that together with the sun’s rays, seems to shine there.

5.00An amazing hike to the stunning Perolniyoc waterfall! Our guide, Juvenal, was wonderful with teaching us about the histories and giving us interesting facts. After hiking to the bottom of the waterfall, we carried on up to Inca ruins situated on the mountain above. After hiking back down, it was a short drive to an Inca church which was a steep climb but amazing to see! To our surprise it was just my mum and I, when we were expecting to be hiking in a group. This was nicer as it was like a private tour and Juvenal was very patient going at our pace, and helping us up some steep parts. The company provided us with a generous packed lunch and the transport to and from Cusco was very comfortable. More people need to be aware of this beautiful place, and it is a great day trip if you’re looking for hikes to do during your time in Cusco!

5.00One of the hidden gems in the sacred valley, the hike takes about an hour to the waterfall, then you can also see an archaeological center on the slope, which makes it very impressive. There are no people here and it was a good lucky day without rain despite the rainy season. We did this excursion with Huaynas from Urubabamba and it is very close to Ollantaymbo. Recommended.

5.00Outstanding fantastic experience This was a fantastic experience, I loved every minute of it, The staff are wonderful, I am vegetarian and the food was outstanding. The hike through this beautiful country is breath taken. The knowledge from the guides are great and you feel well looked after and safe. This is a must do experience and I would highly recommend Huaynas Expeditions

5.00Javier was born and raised in the mountains of Peru. He shared much of the knowledge of his native Qechua upbring, teaching us about the various uses of the the plants and flowers on our hike, and about the customs of the people. He took us on a breathtaking hike through ancient Incan ruins, small farms, mountains, to the promised spectacular waterfall, and finally to a quaint village where we finished. On the way we sat in a clearing and ate the delicious lunch which He bought for us.
