We will embark on an adventure that lasts 2 hours in the largest desert in southern Peru, touring the dunes and sanboarding in the immense dunes of Huacachina. We stopped to watch the sunset and ended at the Huacachina viewpoint to appreciate the Oasis of South America. The experience begins 4:00pm to 6:00pm. In case of holidays the time is reduced to 1 hour due to demand and large influx of public.

What To Expect

This is our starting point to walk towards the Huacachina lagoon and board the buggies to tackle this adventure. At this point, travelers buy tickets for the tourist tax of S/ 3.60 soles. From there a 2-hour adventure awaits us in the immense dunes of Huacachina and we will travel through them, like a roller coaster of emotions. We made stops for the Sanboarding boards and finally appreciated the Sunset in the largest desert in southern Peru.

We walk to the buggy parking lot and embark on an adventure that lasts 2 hours in the immense dunes of Huacachina and travel through them, like a roller coaster of emotions. Dune buggy ride and sandboarding/skiing was amazing!! So much fun and the views were epic. Only complaints would be that we only went down dunes 3 times and spent a while riding in the buggy (Fun in its own sense). It was also not clear that the only thing included was a sand sled and once we arrived we had to pay extra if we wanted a snowboard or skiis to use. Well worth the extra money and the owner included a taxi back to our hostel which quickly helped dissolve any annoyance.

We had ann amazing time on this tour! Miguel Angel, our driver/guide, was the absolute best—taking us on a fast adventure ride and some great dunes to sand board down. There is a short hike up the sand to reach the dune buggy at the start of the tour, but it was manageable for us (6 adults and 1 11-year old). The sunset at the end was beautiful and the pics came out gorgeous.

Was easy to book and tour operator was very communicative via Whatsapp. Friendly driver. Lots of adrenaline and laughs. Good mix of passengers. Sandboarding was fun and the sunset A++. Good price. Recommend.
