Ruins of Leon Viejo
We will pick you up at your hotel in Managua or the airport for free. Then we will drive you to the ruins of León. On the way we will stop a couple of times so you can take nice pictures of the active Momotombo Volcano from a beautiful lookout by the lake. When departing from Managua this activity lasts 3 hours including the drive to the ruins. We provide transportation in modern, air-conditioned private vehicles, guided by a local English-speaking guide.
Leon
After we deppart from the ruins of Leons we will do a quick stop for pictures taking by the lake and then we will drive you to the the current city of Leon for you to visit the main church or cathedral a white magestic building from the 1700s. also we weill take you to see the old prisson la 21 where the revolution started it and last one to the house-musseum Ruben dario. This activity last 2 hours including the ride from the ruines towards leon city, additionally if you want to have lunch here it would add an extra 1 hour to the trip.

5.00We did a fun and enjoyable tour with Gilber and his trainee Elayne! We started first with Ruins of Leon Viejo where Gilber was very knowledgeable about the facts then we headed to the city of Leon where we did a quick walked through the local market and having a great lunch with authentic food at local restaurant. At 2pm we went on the roof of Leon Catedral where we paid the entrance fee of $4 per person (foreigners). We took a great pictures where you can see city aroud plus surrounding volcanoes. Last stop before headed back to Managua was Former prison where nowadays is Museum of Traditions and Legends. The whole tour took about 9.5 hours and was very knowledgeable . Gilber is great tour guide and whoever goes on tour with him guaranteed to have fun.

Not only was Mike very informed of the history, his presentation is interesting and engaging. He made sure to point out sites along the way and customized the experience based on our questions. In addition, the car was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. My travel buddy and I were so impressed with this tour that we contracted Mike for a multi-day private tour of other towns in Nicaragua; all were excellent!

5.00I enjoyed the tour very much. It was great to be able to get to the roof of the Cathedral and enjoy the views from there. León Vieja was extremely interesting. The view from the old fort area was amazing. Sesostris, the tour guide, made sure I got to see as much as I could. Even though we were early for the Cathedral, he adjusted the itinerary to show me other places, and then head to the Cathedral when it opened. He is a great tour guide.

1.00You have to be careful with this tour company because they try to scam your private tour and add some people and when you told them the price have to change then they change attitude, after they didn’t tell you that you have to pay for everything like $10 for visiting this ruins of Leon that is nothing to do over there pay $5 for visiting a house of a poète that no one knows and $2 for going up to the church for see the city and when you see the reviews on Google of this company you understand

1.00The tour operator never contacted me the day prior like all your operators do. So I tried reaching out to both Viator and this operator 7 times in all from the evening before to 6am on the day of the tour with no response. It was my last day in Nicaragua and luckily Hilton helped me by sending a taxi and driver with me to Leon at 9am. 9:30am the tour operator reaches Hilton and insists that they never confirm with guests as per Viator SOPs. Refused to return the USD 130 fee. Absolutely unorganized and unethical behaviour and disgusting coverup just not to refund my fee. Shame on them spoiling the good name of the country.

5.00We visited the cathedral in Leon and took amazing pictures on their white, snow-like roof; then had an authentic Nicaraguan lunch nearby; and finally visited the ruins of Old Leon. The guide was great!

1.00The tour operator Show Me Nicaragua did not connect with me despite my repeated attempts (messages) the day before. It caused me great mental uncertainty. Viator support also could not reach operator. I did not know if one whole day was going to be wasted in a trip of only 3 days. As I was preparing for a second alternative he sent a message at about 845 for a 900 trip!!! Guide arrived after 945 for a late start. Guide David was outstanding, took me to Old Leon and showed ruins from volcanic eruption, historic, great view of active volcano. Then David took me to the beautiful colonial city of Leon milling with tourists, showed the cathedral, Central square and other sites. However tour operator ordered the guide back to Managua as soon as we had arrived at Leon so that car could be used by an uncle!!! Guide David was stressed as I wanted a full tour but he had to obey the tour operator. Please see who the tour operator is, do not book with Show Me Nicaragua if you value your mental peace. Guide David was great though.

5.00Although it was a Sunday, Leon had some activity. I would probably recommend this tour on a Saturday because many of the shops were closed, but views from Cathedral were nice! Also, to view the ruins it was $10 US, which I thought was a little expensive considering the community around it.
