• A good contrast program of landscape and lifestyle of the people on the west/east coast

  We were in mid-March individually for a week on Santiago and booked some tours with Cape Verde tours. We only had positive experiences with the organizer. On-time hotel pick-up and reliable, competent execution of the tour. Our guide named Gualter, good subject / general knowledge in very good English could give us a good insight into the life of the local population. The full-day tour along winding but good roads along the west coast to Taraffal provides countless insights into the bizarre, rugged mountain landscape. The east coast takes more time due to the poor, bumpy and under development road. A vehicle with good suspension is advisable, we had a well-equipped minibus with 8 people. Interesting is the contrast of west/east coast. Gueltar was able to tell a lot about his compatriots and the harsh living conditions, since he himself comes from one of the villages. The island tour is highly recommended to get an authentic impression of the east coast, which is not yet characterized by tourism. We wish the Gualter guide continued success with Cape Verde tours.

  Very nice discovery of Santiago Island in one day for a very decent price The Bravo guide aka "José" allowed us to see all aspects of the island and its history The little extra was the atmosphere with the discovery of the different styles of Cape Verde music during the trip and the discovery of some Creole expressions To summarize, very nice day in good company

  Trip was booked in French but commentary was only in English & Spanish. The guide very difficult to hear as two guides were speaking in different languages simultaneously. Commentary was dumbed-down and not appropriate for the passengers. However I do recommend an island tour soon upon arrival as it helps to see what the rest of the island has to offer.

  I had an absolutely incredible full-day tour of Santiago Island, and I cannot recommend this experience enough—especially with Pox (our driver) and Antonio (our tour guide). From start to finish, they went above and beyond to make the day both enjoyable and deeply informative. Antonio is extremely knowledgeable about the island’s history, culture, and local communities. He didn’t just give surface-level information—he provided real insight into the traditions, lifestyle, and stories that make Santiago so unique. You can truly feel his passion for sharing his culture. Pox, our driver, was equally amazing—professional, friendly, and made us feel completely safe and comfortable throughout the entire journey. The roads and terrain can be challenging in certain areas, but his skill and calm demeanor made the experience seamless. What really stood out was how authentic the tour felt. This wasn’t just a checklist of tourist spots—it felt like a genuine connection to the island and its people. We visited local communities, experienced real Cape Verdean life, and had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations. If you’re visiting Cape Verde and considering a tour of Santiago, do yourself a favor and book this experience—and if possible, request Pox and Antonio. They truly made this a highlight of my trip. Thank you both for such a memorable and enriching day!

  I joined the “Discover Santiago in 1 Day” tour and it was unforgettable. Seeing the breathtaking volcanic mountains in the heart of the island and its dramatic eastern coastline was truly special. What made the experience even better was our exceptional guide, Bravo, whose kindness and sense of humor brought the beauty of Cabo Verde to life. I hope you decide to take this trip as well — and I wish for you to have Mr. Bravo as your guide.

  

• A complete day tour of Santiago Island.

  This tour is good value for money. It lasted from 9am to 6pm and I got to see the whole of Santiago island outside the capital, Praia. It includes a 2 hour stop in the beach town of Tarrafal at the north end of the island where you can swim or have lunch or both. Antonio is an excellent guide and was happy to answer every question. Thoroughly recommend.

  This was a really good way to see the island of Santiago. Our guides Walter and Daisy were great - very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information. My only criticism was the van that we were travelling in was pretty cramped quarters for such a lot of driving. Overall however I would recommend this tour as a great way to experience all the different aspects of the island of Santiago.

  This tour was the best way to immerse into the history, economy, culture of Capo Verde and to enjoy the landscape of Santiago island. Our guide Valter was fun, gave us the right mix of info and answered all the questions. Money well spent.:)

  Fantastic trip. Highly recommended to see Santiago in a day. My only suggestions are Walter who was very knowledgeable needs to speak louder and it should be made clear when booking that if you are staying outside of the city extra cost is involved. Best to go on a Wednesday or a Saturday as those are market days.
