The Egyptian Museum in Cairo

The Egyptian museum in Cairo houses over 120,000 artifacts, including the contents of Tutankhamen’s tomb and most of the mummies that have been discovered since the 19th century. The museum’s exhibits span from the beginning of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt (approximately 2700 BC) through the Greco-Roman period.The building consists of two floors. On the ground floor, you can follow the history of Egypt from the Old Kingdom up through the Greco-Roman period by turning left at the entrance and looping around the museum. The Hanging Church

The most famous site in Coptic Cairo is the Church of the Virgin Mary, better known by its nickname, the Hanging Church. This name comes from the fact that it was built atop the walls of the 4th century BC Roman fortress of Babylon, the remains of which are still visible about Coptic Cairo Although the effect is significantly diminished today by the fact that the ground level has risen over 30 feet over the centuries due to the accumulation of trash and dust, originally this church towered above its surroundings on the high walls of the fortress.

Marco was a knowledgeable, friendly courteous guide. He was thoughtful and anticipated our needs. He had a wealth of knowledge of the sites we visited. Marco also gave great advice on picture taking and which sites and angles worked best for photos. Would highly recommend him!

I had a fantastic time on the Full-Day Cairo Tour to the Egyptian Museum, Citadel, and Old Cairo. One of the highlights was visiting the Egyptian Museum—seeing King Tutankhamun’s treasures and so many ancient artifacts up close was truly unforgettable. The Citadel was also impressive, offering both historical insight and great views. I really enjoyed exploring the Hanging Church and one of the local mosques as well, which added a rich layer of cultural depth to the tour. Our guide was excellent—very knowledgeable and detailed in his explanations. He was also super accommodating and took the time to answer my questions about local customs and traditions, which I really appreciated. Lunch was a nice local food experience and added to the authenticity of the day. Overall, this was a well-rounded and memorable experience. Just shy of perfect, but highly recommended if you're looking to dive deep into Cairo's rich history and culture in one day.

Marco (Polo) is an extraordinary Egyptologist and a great navigator for the greatest Egyptian driver of all time Mohammad Ali. Both of these men went above and beyond from throughout our tour of Cairo. My wife and I highly agree that you only request this combination when booking a tour in Egypt.

Marco was great! Highly recommend him as a tour guide. His knowledge about ancient Egypt was very easy to understand. He has developed a lot of local contacts and is highly respected. He also knows where the unique sites are.

Fantastic! We did a half-day tour of old Cairo and the Citadel, having done the Egyptian Museum with Deluxe Tours a few days prior. The reason we came back to Deluxe Tours for a third(!) time was because of our guide, Ebrahim Taye. Ebrahim is an incredible guide with a breath and depth of knowledge that made our visit so much more meaningful and informative. Moreover, he is friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed at any turn. I could not recommend Deluxe Tours or Ebrahim more highly. Beyond this, the Citadel and mosques themselves were stunning and it was fascinating to see the development of Islamic architecture over a millennium. This was genuinely a highlight of our holiday!
