  It was a nice tour and very reasonably priced. There were 8 wineries available on the blue line. All in f the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, in particular Ben the wine host at Holden Franze. The wine was very reasonably priced and generously poured. Only negative for me was the heat on the bus was very uncomfortable as the aircon was very good at all. Something that I think would improve the experience if there was more information in advance on the wineries, what they offer, types of wines etc so that it would allow you to make better use of your trip and plan for the ones that best suited your preferences.

  On booking, I was promised an email the day before my tour. It didn't arrive, if it had many of my issues could have been resolved. Tour was advertised as hop-on, hop-off. However I only ever knew what the next stop was and a few notes about that vineyard. I wasn't given any information about future stops or a timetable, so you couldn't select stops. The itinerary in advert contains minimal detail, really a start time and general destination. Tour is advertised as 8 hours, but 10 hours is more realistic. The trambus seats, were uncomfortable and slippery seeming to direct you to the floor. The majority of food options at the stops seemed to be intended for two people to share. I often make trips on my own and enjoy either my own company or the friends I make. So please don't read this review as being from a lonely guy. With a little more thought this could be a great trip.

  Please check your email for meeting time and location. The bus will leave you. If the bus leaves you, you can pay an expensive fee out to the very lovely Franschhoek and continue on your wine tasting tours. We loved the tour. Everyone was very kind.

  The tour itself, no complain. The area is gorgeous and the tour operator did their best. Only really bad upfront communication by Viator that caused me miss the bus. Clearly not my mistake and not City Sightseeing’s. Nowhere in the app I could have received information that my pickup time was different. And the complain handled very badly. Will never use Viator again

  For anyone wishing to have a wine tasting day, I would definately recommend booking this. It runs like clock work with plenty of time at each of the wineries that they visit. A combination of tram and trolley bus there are a variety of routes available. You can stop longer as we did in Dieu Donne, where we had the most wonderful lunch with a fabulous view over the valley. Well worth it.

  The journey out was not the most comfortable, the bus air con was reading as 17 degrees - it was agony being blasted with chilled air of that temperature for over 45 mins. The return trip was a comfortable 22 degrees after informing the driver. The trams and the valley wineries are always a joy - beautiful setting and experiences.

  Quite funny and entertaining tour, well organized and you have found your way around. We were a bit unlucky, because on our day a cruise ship was on site and the bus was therefore billowing (for the provider certainly good :-)) After the bus had arrived in Franschhoek after about 90 minutes, the transfer went uncomplicated thanks to the local guides and the day took its course, with several stops at various wineries. Overall a successful day, which we enjoyed very much. The staff from the tour provider and the various wineries were friendly and accommodating. There was an extra smile on top when we still tipped 100 - 200 ZAR. So we were satisfied overall, only more flexible times for our departure from/to Fransschoek would complete the experience.

  A+ 5 stars for the Franschhoek wine workers. You provide a very fun time and the tram and bus serive to the wine estates was fantastic. C- for the big red bus" portion (transport to/from Cape Town). 1) they say 1 hour bus ride...is 1.5+ with no traffic, 2) they say start at 9:30 at Franshhoek, but you'll start at 10 (if you're lucky). I planned my day and reservations nssed on 9:30 stary as advertised, but it throws your whole day off if you start 1/2 hour later so I missed all my reservations. It might be better if you do the tram first b/c that leaves every 30 min instead of every hour like the bus (might be able to make up some time). BUT the best wine is at the smaller bus stops via the bus portion... the tram was okay but me crowded, commercial, and you have to toke a tractor to the estate from the tram so instead of 60 min at the wine estate you get about 40 min which is really rushed for a tasting. I did the Pink line and loved Leopards Leap and Dieu Donne the most. I was able to power through 5 tastings, the max, but I was really rushed and could only do it because I was by myself and could taste quickly when necessary. But really, choose any line, and the bus portion is the best and the tram portion is crowded and more generic.

  Do not book this tour with Viatour. We were given the wrong meeting info and almost missed the tour. Book it with another company. The wine tram itself is a good tour but our day was somewhat spoiled by confusion and stress at the start.
