On our one day tour to Oban from Glasgow you’ll experience a little of everything that Scotland’s spectacular natural beauty has to offer.
This is the rugged Western Highlands where majestic mountains tumble down to glorious lochs. Castles and glens hide tragic tales of centuries ago, and bustling ports serve up tasty food and award-winning attractions.
Your friendly driver-guide will bring Scottish legends to life as we share our country, from the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond to haunting Glencoe.

We pause for photos at the ‘Rest and Be Thankful’, an iconic Scottish viewpoint so named thanks to the words carved in stone by weary soldiers who built the original military road in 1753.

Unfortunately, due to Storm Amy, we were not able to complete our tour. However, Discover Scotland Tours handled the situation beautifully. They tried very hard to provide us with a tour in changing conditions and when they had to cancel it, they promptly provided a refund.

Our guide Tony was excellent. Although he had a Scottish accent, I, being American, understood him well. Tony added in a few more photo stops on our trip so it was a full day.

Scott was a funny driver and tour guide. He made the day entertaining. I do feel like the name of the tour is a bit misleading. It's called "castles" but we only went to one castle (Inverary), and even Scott said that it's "not really a castle," it was more like a private country estate and was 18 pounds to visit. We technically saw Kilchurn Castle but it was from pretty far away. We didn't see Castle Stalker. The tour was mostly stops along the road. Now don't get me wrong, we definitely saw some beautiful scenery and landscapes. Oban is a cute fishing village with lots of shops and restaurants, and driving through the Glencoe area was beautiful. But I wouldn't say we actually *did* very much. I would also recommend taking the Inverary Jail off the suggestions on the itinerary as Scott said it's a waste of time and money. Also, be careful to pay attention at the bus station, as the wrong stand number was on the board. When I mentioned it to Scott, his reaction was such that it seems like this is a regular occurrence (not his fault, but this should probably be addressed, or at least mentioned in the booking details). No one made an announcement about the incorrect location, and if we hadn't been watching closely and gone over to the other stand to inquire, we might have missed our tour. Thanks, Scott, for a nice day!
