YehLiu Geopark

Yehliu is a cape on Taiwan’s northern coast best known for Yehliu Geopark, where sea erosion has shaped honeycomb and mushroom rocks such as the iconic Queen’s Head and Dragon’s Head. The area is mostly flat but offers little shade, so sun protection is advised during summer.

Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street)

Feel transported to this former gold-mining mountain town—once built by the Japanese and now a maze of history-rich lanes and alleys. Most of the charming streets are stairways lined with snack stalls and teahouses, and they can get quite crowded. (Tip: If you’d like to experience Jiufen at sunset or dusk, book a departure after 11:00 AM. This will make Jiufen the final stop, giving you time to enjoy the sunset views and evening lights.)

Great itinerary. Tour guide James was excellent and very knowledgeable. We were able to customize the tour to what we liked. If you want to have tea at Jiufen tea house will need to allot for time especially around sunset. It’s beautiful at this time and great for pictures. If it’s a must to have tea I recommend extending your tour time or shorten time at other spots. Great tour would highly recommend.

Nice day out exploring the natural beauty of Northern Taiwan. The drive in my estimation as interesting as the destinations. Mr Paul was a friendly host with an appropriate amount of connection and local insight. With anything outdoors it’s subject to micro climates but were mostly working in our favor over the day.

We spent the day with Vincent as our guide. He is fun, very personable, prompt, well organized, and knowledgeable. He taught us so much. The geo park was amazing. It was great fun exploring the towns and eating some great food along the way. The waterfall was large and powerful when we visited. We also saw perople sending up lanterns. Vincent knew all the great places for pictures. We had so much fun and learned so much. He is a wonderful guide. We definitely recommend spending the day with Vincent as your guide.

Hicks was our guide and driver. We initially booked Beitou and yangmingshan national park but with the heavy rain we quickly realized it made no sense to go in the mountains. The night before I shared my concerns with Hicks, sharing what we already visited in Taipei. As we met the next day, he proposed various options and we agreed on an alternate plan. It appears that he made of a rainy day a superb experience, visiting beitou but adding historical house, grand hotel, Dalongdong temple and even the National Palace Museum. Even though we had tickets for the next day, his 2 hours guiding revealed to be excellent and helped us choose the areas to explore further the next day. If you get Hicks a driver/ guide consider yourself as very lucky !!

Jackson was our guide for the tour and words cannot describe what an amazing tour guide he was. Without going into too much detail, we started the tour with one member short due to an emergency and were unable to join in the morning. While we didn't do the whole northern tour due to this, Jackson was flexible in picking up our last member and give us a tour of Taipei for our remaining half of our tour time. Not only that, he offered and made calls to help our emergency while we were doing the tour. Aside from that, he was very knowledgeable, friendly, helped us take photos and took us to the best places for food. Would definitely recommend and ask him for another tour if I'm back in Taiwan in the future.

Hicks was an excellent tour guide, with well developed English language skills. Communication was easy. He offered travel tips and information without prompting. He never rushed us throughout the day.

We did 2 tours with Vincent Lee whilst we were in Taipei. We had great 2 days with him as he was such an entertainer ! Everything was very organised and he knew exactly where to take pictures! Such a great experience! Thank you Vincent Lee! We highly recommend him!

Exceptional way to spend your day in Taipei. The YehLiu Geopark is like no other. Thoroughly enjoyed painting the lanterns in Shifen Street. Had much more fun than we expected. Our tour guide Vincent Chen was phenomenal. He had a very comfortable car. Very knowledgeable and a great driver. He made our day. Two thumbs up!
