Welcome to Fascinating tour to the land of mountains where top of the ridges are always covered with snow and where narrow gorges hide small lakes with an amazing color of water.
The lakes are called the Haftkul (which means “Seven Lakes” in Tajik) - sometimes they are also known as Marguzor Lakes.
Mountain villages perched near Lakes Khurdak and Marguzor provide a glimpse into the present-day lifestyle of rural Tajik families.
Visa Requirements for Your Trip
This trip starts in Uzbekistan and enters Tajikistan. Both Uzbekistan and Tajikistan offer visa-free entry for many nationalities. However, before booking, please check your specific visa requirements to ensure a smooth journey.
If you need a visa, make sure you have:
A Tajikistan visa (if required for your nationality).
A double-entry visa for Uzbekistan, as you will re-enter the country after visiting Tajikistan.

Meet up with our driver in your hotel and transfer to Uzbek - Tajik border. Arrival at Uzbek - Tajik border pass. You nned to walk to cross the border. After border crossing fomality Meet by Tajikistan staff and drive to Penjikent.
Seven Lakes
Drive to Marghuzor, the first lake , at an elevation of 1,640 m. Its name traslates to eyelashes in Tajik. The lake is known for its vibrant colors. Next you will visit Soya Lake. Translating as "shadow", due to this lake's geographical position between high cliffs, the lake remains in the shade almost the whole day. The third lake, Gushor, is sitauted a mere 400 meters from Soya. The two lakes are connected by a turbulent stream. Translating as "watchful", this lake is surrounded by steep cliffs. Fourth lake, called Nofin, is the central lake translates as "umbilical cord" due to its length, which stands at 2.5 km The fifth lake, situated 1.5 km away from Nofin and passing through the beautiful village of Pardut is the Khurdak lake, which translates to "the baby" as this lake is the smallest one of the seven. The sixth lake, Marguzor, is the largest and, to many people, the most beautiful of the Seven Lakes.

5.00This tour was very well organized. We were picked up by our driver at our accommodation and he took us to the border. We then walked across with little waiting time. In Tajikistan, our guide met us right at the border. He was very knowledgeable about the region and the history of the country. We drove into the mountains and saw six lakes. We decided not to go to the seventh lake as it was already getting late and the weather was just incredible at the sixth lake, so we ended up picnicking there and spending quite a bit of time taking photos. When we returned to the border, our initial driver met us there again. He recommended a lovely winery and great restaurant on our way home. Great experience all around. Especially if you only have one day this is a great opportunity to visit another country and see some beautiful nature. Thanks so much!

5.00Great communication and guides were amazing. The lakes are beautiful and it was such low effort to be driven to them-in a good way! The border crossing was part of the experience. Highly recommend!!

3.00Samarkand is amazing but I’m not sure how this is the highest rated experience. We booked a couple , usa uk passports. My husband enjoyed the lakes but the border crossing was a hassle both ways for some, road is really poor quality and bumpy and it’s a very long day. Did I enjoy it? No, as I applied for my visa a month before and never heard back. They took the payment immediately and then ‘ couldn’t find ‘ my application. Tour had spaces as this has happened to many who needed a visa so be very careful. I did an alternative trip in uz. Frankly it’s also expensive.

5.00Perfect day, our driver picked us up as agreed. Photos at the border so that the Tajikistan driver would recognise us. Our driver spoke English very knowledgeable and attentive to our requests. Went in March so quiet roads, few other travellers. Highly recommend

5.00It was a great trip to visit seven lakes in Tajikistan, though we didn’t get the 7th lake due to our safety but the whole trip as awesome. Parvina as our tour guide was talkative and clearly to explain all the things. We also got a bonus to visit Khujand historical museum.

5.00If you want to visit Seven Lakes in Tajikistan from Samarkand, I highly recommend this day trip. The communication from Oriz was excellent especially when there was snow at Seven Lakes the day before my trip was originally scheduled. I was able to move back the trip by one day and Oriz then let me know that the road might only be open to lake 5. He offered a refund if I wanted to cancel, but I decided to go and was very happy that I did. I was picked up on time at my hotel by Shaxram and enjoyed riding with him to the border. He then showed me a photo of the car of my driver/guide Shamshidin in Tajikistan and also took a photo of me to send to him. The border crossing to Tajikistan had very few people in mid-January and went smoothly. Shamshidin was waiting for me and was an outstanding driver and guide who shared his knowledge about his country's history and current conditions. Although the road to Seven Lakes was snowy, after photo stops at lakes 1 thru 5, we made it all the way to lake 6 on what turned out to be a nice sunny January day with beautiful scenery. There were more people on my return border crossing to Uzbekistan so it took a little longer, but Shaxram was waiting for me and returned me to my hotel after taking me on a short side trip to see the Emerald City in Samarkand. It was a very memorable day.
