Welcome to Fascinating tour to the land of mountains where top of the ridges are always covered with snow and where narrow gorges hide small lakes with an amazing color of water.

The lakes are called the Haftkul (which means “Seven Lakes” in Tajik) - sometimes they are also known as Marguzor Lakes.

Mountain villages perched near Lakes Khurdak and Marguzor provide a glimpse into the present-day lifestyle of rural Tajik families.

Seven Lakes

Drive to Marghuzor, the first lake , at an elevation of 1,640 m. Its name traslates to eyelashes in Tajik. The lake is known for its vibrant colors. Next you will visit Soya Lake. Translating as "shadow", due to this lake's geographical position between high cliffs, the lake remains in the shade almost the whole day. The third lake, Gushor, is sitauted a mere 400 meters from Soya. The two lakes are connected by a turbulent stream. Translating as "watchful", this lake is surrounded by steep cliffs. Fourth lake, called Nofin, is the central lake translates as "umbilical cord" due to its length, which stands at 2.5 km The fifth lake, situated 1.5 km away from Nofin and passing through the beautiful village of Pardut is the Khurdak lake, which translates to "the baby" as this lake is the smallest one of the seven. The sixth lake, Marguzor, is the largest and, to many people, the most beautiful of the Seven Lakes.

The Seven lakes of Tajikistan are a genuinely special place. It is a stunningly beautiful area with some awe inspiring views. The people we met were lovely. Our guide was kind and gracious, answering our questions and explaining bits of history and culture as we went.

A wonderful trip, perfectly organized. Our guide Omar was knowledgeable and incredibly friendly, making the long journey to the destination truly enjoyable. The breathtaking scenery and unspoiled nature make the trip more than worth it. The lakes are stunning, and the Tajik villages you pass along the way add a special charm to the experience.

Coming from Khiva → Bukhara → Samarkand, I wanted to touch nature and joined a tour around 7 lakes in Tajikistan 🇹🇯. This was my first time using Viator, but the day before, I received a final WhatsApp call to check on my belongings. I could look forward to the tour with peace of mind. On the day of the event, both Uzbekistan side and Tajikistan side were very professional and kind guides and drivers. Thank you very much. We also enjoyed talking and picnicking with the German couple who were with us. Tajikistan is rustic, teeming with nature and offers a completely different view from Samarkand. If you come to Samarkand, I highly recommend visiting neighboring Tajikistan.

We had a wonderful day in beautiful Tajikistan. Although many of the roads weren’t fully paved, our driver did a great job with navigation and we were comfortable throughout. The lakes were beautiful, as were the mountains, meadows and streams we drove by. Locals too were friendly and open, and we passed a number of small villages full of smiling kids. Our guide was very nice, keeping us entertained with music, stories and her love of Bollywood. Would highly recommend this as an option when travelling to Samarkand. Unfortunately, due to a landslide, road access to the 7th lake was blocked, but we more than made up for this with a picnic lunch by a beautiful stream that we didn’t want to leave!
