  Our trip to Montenegro was beautiful, our driver Darko was very accommodating and recommended places to visit during our free time. The three stops were all lovely although Kotors old town is very busy when cruise ships are in town during high season but I had a great day seeing a small part of this gorgeous country.

  First, thanks to the great & entertaining tour guide Andrew!! Kept the trip lively the entire time. Highly recommend going with a small tour group. The small tours get through the border sooo much faster than the buses. Andrew was able to navigate us around a ton of traffic using the backroads. Taking the backroads was a fascinating experience alone. Kotor was the highlight of the trip. Make sure to bring cash as credit cards are not widely accepted.

  Days later and I am still shocked at the egregious comments made by driver/tour guide Andrew on this trip. He began the tour by making multiple comments about how people get offended by historical facts and try to get him in trouble, but it soon became evident why people make valid complaints. His historical "facts" are actually thinly veiled white nationalist comments and regurgitated commentary commonly heard from neo-fascists. Here are some of the microaggressions Andrew made during the trip: -saying that the East Indian accent would soon become the new British accent -stating that he is neither pro Ukraine or pro Russia, yet only making numerous negative comments about Zelensky and how he needs to be replaced, but nothing about Putin -repeatedly using the g*psy slur for the Roma people after I asked him to stop -stating that g*psies are all dark and short, and that it's offensive to Romanian people to call g*psies Roma (even though that's what they identify as) -saying that people like me are why he wants to quit his job -continuing to bad-mouth me relentlessly after I left the van and stayed in Budva (which had already been pre-arranged with the owner, thank goodness). Other members in the group messaged me to tell me that he continued to insult me -stating that Albanians were all criminals like in the movie "Taken" -going on a strange tangent about how yes Croatia bombed the Mostar bridge, but they didn't actually destroy it, as if that somehow makes it ok?? -making an analogy comparing a wife in our group beating her husband but not k*lling him to Croatia bombing the bridge but not destroying it. So weird. Nationalism makes people say the darndest things I guess -the repeated mentioning of what the Ottoman Empire did years ago. Yes, history is filled with terrible things, this is true. However it is how he says it implying like there is something wrong with Serbs/Croats/Bosniaks choosing to be Muslim today that is the problem. His disdain for Islam is palpable. However, the worst part of all occurred regarding the topic of the Bosnian War. He outright downplayed and dismissed the horrors and atrocities that the Bosnian people went through, and denied altogether that there was in fact a genocide in Srebrenica. For many of the previous microaggressions I called him out or challenged him, but with these comments I was so appalled, I was too sickened to speak. Do you know that this is the 30th year anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide? Are you aware that people with this ethnicity and family heritage are making pilgrimages back to the Balkans to honor those that have died? What if a family member had been on this tour? This truly cannot be allowed to happen again. Viator, it is ethically reprehensible to market a tour where guests are subjected to the views of a genocide denier. I have an audio recording from that day where Andrew is clearly stating that the things shown in the war museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina are "staged" and "do not make sense" which I will be sharing with Viator and Tripadvisor to prevent anyone else from being subjected to this. He blamed me in front of the group for making the trip tense and uncomfortable, but the blame rests solely on him. I will always try to speak up and stand up for what is right, even if I am alone in doing so. Lastly, I want to leave you with a few quotes: "Today, we honor the memory of the victims of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica. Denial of this genocide is an affront to justice. Our duty is to acknowledge historical facts and work towards reconciliation.
