Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary And Cultural Village

The Mona monkeys, who live in the tropical forest around the tiny village of Tafi-Atome, have been protected for the past 200 years. it was thought that they were messengers to the gods. In addition to providing tours for tourists, the village started more extensive efforts to preserve its forest and monkeys in 1996. These efforts have preserved the forest with its numerous bird and butterfly species and increased the number of monkeys to around 200. Although they are wild, the playful monkeys frequently approach visitors very closely when they are offered bananas.

Afadjato (Mount Afadjato)
