The city of Petra, the capital of the Nabataean Arabs, is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, It is Located 240 km south of the capital Amman, and 120 km north of the Red Sea town of Aqaba Petra the world wonder is undoubtedly Jordan's most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction, and it is visited by tourists from all over the world.

It is not known precisely when Petra was built, but the city began to prosper as the capital of the Nabataean Empire from the 1st century BC, which grew rich through trade in frankincense, myrrh, and spices.

Petra was later annexed to the Roman Empire and continued to thrive until a large earthquake in 363 AD destroyed much of the city in the 4th century AD.

Petra

We will pick you up from anywhere in Aqaba & drive to Petra with a short stop on the way. It takes around 2 hours to reach Petra Visitors Center where we start our walking journey to the World’s 8th wonder. After walking 800 m we reach Siq (a rock canal that measures 1200 meters in length, 3 to 12 meters in width, and reaches up to 80 meters in height). The Siq opens up onto Petra’s most magnificent façade – the Treasury, or Al Khazna. After the Treasury, the path broadens into a wide Street of Facades flanked on either side by the tombs that characterize the entire site. The Street of Facades leads us to the 5,000-seat theatre, carved right in the middle of a major cemetery area: Across from the theater at the western side of Jebel Khubtha we reach our final point – Royal Tombs. After a tour of the Royal Tombs, back to Aqaba. The remaining four hours are for transportation.

The best way to see Petra !!! "We had an incredible day exploring Petra, and it was all thanks to Loiy Ekrayyem Hayel Al-Mawadieh. Not only was he a safe and professional driver, but he also shared fascinating history about Jordan during the drive. He knew exactly when to arrive to beat the tour bus crowds and recommended a fantastic local restaurant that we never would have found on our own. He made our trip stress-free and truly memorable. 10/10 would recommend!"

The Petra experience was an awesome trip from start to finish. Our driver Odai Hamideh "What's apped" us several days prior to the day of the trip to confirm the pickup location and time. His time was flexible because he asked us what time did we want to leave. Also we stayed in Aqaba outside of the pickup zone and he still was able to pickup us for a small fee. Once we got to Petra Odai recommended to take us around to the back entrance and go in there and end up at the main entrance when we were finished. That was a great idea because we got to see more and did not have to backtrack. Once we entered Petra we hired donkeys to take us up to the monestary and back. That was great because we covered more ground quicker. After that we continued our way through Petra taking in all of the beautiful structures along the way. Once we arrived at the Treasury we took a club car back to the entrance and that was recommended by our driver also. This is a remarkable place to visit and pictures do not do any justice. My advice is to enter in the back of Petra take the donkey for a distance and continue making your way to the main entrance because you can see more with less walking. Trip of a Lifetime!

AMAZING!! it was incredible... Petra is so breathtaking and well worth the walk! Our driver was really friendly spoke great english and was happy to stop as and when we needed. He suggested dropping us off at the end of the city, to walk back into petra, so we could see ALL of the sites not just the main treasury ( India Jones!). This took about 3hrs as a leisurely pace and saved us having to walk back another 3hrs! We were lucky, it wasn't busy at all. We got there at midday! Take plenty of water, as it's pretty dear there! There are plenty of toilets along the way to and little shops for last minute snacks. You pick up a map and follow it to see all 13 sights. Super easy! We got the Jordan pass, so this was included saving us the 50JD fee. The little market outside wasn't too pushy and let you look at leasure. As in all a fantastic day out and we'll worth the money. 10/10!

The trip was very beautiful. We stayed at the Ayla Hotel and it was very beautiful. We visited Wadi Rum and Petra with a wonderful transportation service and the workers were nice, respectful and patient with us.

We had a lovely trip to Petra. A comfortable ride from Aqaba to Petra. The car is clean and nice. The driver was very friendly and gave us useful tips and suggestions for our travels in Jordan. Highly recommend.
