At the Belgrade Fortress, we take you to the selected vantage points, decode its iconic monuments and highlight the decisive moments of Belgrade's 2,000 years of history.
You'll grasp the physical and cultural border between the Balkans and the Central Europe. The border that has always interested the empires: the Romans, the Byzantines, the Ottomans, the Hapsburgs, modern European powers, the USA and USSR. You'll discover how their explicit or imminent face offs shaped the tumultuous history and unique culture of Belgrade.
The panoramic views will show you four different faces of Belgrade, rising above the rivers Sava and Danube.
Plus, you'll discover orthodox churches with particular decoration, an underground well of impressive baroque architecture and a secret military bunker from the Cold War.

What happened when Nazis bombed Belgrade in 1941. And what happened when there was a Soviet invasion threat in the 1950ies. Guess which movie maker told the press he felt very inspired after getting underground! We start with the ancient Romans and trace the successive powers who fought for this piece of earth, water and sky. Every step takes you past the gates and walls, dungeons and towers. 5.00It was great to hear how a local historian thinks about the Serbian past, to get explanations of what was going on historically and how things are now. It was sunny and clear when we visited so we had good views of Zemun and New Belgrade that are quite different from Old Belgrade.

5.00One of the most exciting guided tours ever! Igor is a history buff passionate about sharing the stories of war and peace, sultans and kings, underground chambers..We saw the foundations of the medieval castle and the Roman wall and got inside a church that was built from a military magazine
