We are going to explore Western-Estonia today during one of these day trips from Tallinn. The main draws for western Estonia are nature, the Paldiski area, Noarootsi Peninsula and the resort town of Haapsalu boasting some cute wooden architecture and oodles of summer concerts and outdoor terraces.
There are many interesting cultural and nature-related sites to stop along the route. Like the calm and friendly small town of Haapsalu, Noarootsi peninsula with untouched nature and Scandinavian feel, limestone cliffs in Paldiski and a beautiful waterfall near Tallinn.

The calm and friendly small town of Haapsalu, located less than 2-hour’s drive from the capital, enjoys a long standing history as a spa resort. Modern Haapsalu hosts a number of international festivals and is home to charming restaurants. Haapsalu is a wonderful little town with narrow streets, a miniature town hall and romantic wooden dwelling houses. On the romantic seaside promenade stands Kuursaal, one of the finest wooden buildings in Estonia. Once in Haapsalu, don’t forget to browse for a traditional hand-woven woollen Haapsalu shawl with fine and elegant patterns.

5.00A most enjoyable day touring the west coast of Estonia with Juhan, exploring a very different country - one of forests, small settlements and remote coastlines - compared to that which lies in and around the old town of Tallinn. Juhan was a mine of information about the areas that we were visting and Estonia more generally which greatly enhanced our experience. He was also a nice safe, smooth driver.

5.00Wonderful to see some of Western Estonia. Our guide, Juhan, made it a perfect day. He had a great itinerary that allowed us to see even more than we hoped for. Juhan is very knowledgeable, has a great sense of humor, and is a really nice person. Couldn't recommend the trip enough.

5.00Juhan had everything perfectly organised for our day trip to Haapsalu with several stops along the Western coast - really everything, up to the weather. 😉 The contact before was prompt, flexible and uncomplicated. Juhan is a very knowledgable and sociable guide. It was a great tour with its nicest moments captured in a fun little video. Thanks for this additional memory of a great and sunny day.

5.00The driver was well versed on his history. We enjoyed our day traveling amongst beauty together. The nature and waterfalls were beautiful. This was my favorite excursion during my Estonian visit.

5.00Incredible tour. We learned a ton about the history of this amazing place, saw the most beautiful views, and had a great lunch (with some special souvenir shopping) in the quaint town of Haapsalu. Our guide was wonderful.

5.00Taking Juhan's tour was one of the best decisions I made for my first trip to Estonia. You get to see so much outside of Tallinn. We highly recommend this tour! You will see everything in the Itinerary. Haapsalu was the highlight of the day! We took both west and east tours from Juhan, and they are extremely worth it.

5.00Fantastic tour. Juhan was a wonderful guide. Juhan is a native Estonian who grew up in the country he loves. We traveled west to the Baltic Sea, visiting several small towns and stopping at a couple of different vantage points to take pictures. He knows Estonian history and great places to visit. He even helped me find my mother's home in Tallinn, where she lived with her parents before WWII began. Wonderful tour!

5.00An easy day-trip from Tallinn is an all-day drive from Tallinn west to Haapsalu. And a great way to do it is with Juhan as your guide. He is an excellent host with in-depth knowledge about almost everything Estonian - history, culture, nature, etc. The tour is the “Go West – Private 1 Day Trip to West Coast”. Highlights include a visit to Haapsalu town, Haapsalu Castle, the Haapsalu Promenade (a pretty stretch of waterfront), and stops (either on the way to Haapsalu or on the way back to Tallinn) at Noarootsi Peninsula and Nõva Nature Reserve, the 1731 Nova wooden church, 14th century Padise Abbey, Paldiski and Pakri Peninsula and lighthouse, Spithami Lighthouse, and Keila Waterfall. Haapsalu is full of lovely old and photogenic wooden houses and shops. Along the drive you'll see quite a few old Soviet military installations. On the particular day we were in Haapsalu, the town was hosting its annual “American Beauty Car Show”. Hundreds of classic American cars on display and driving all around town. A great bonus to a wonderful five-star day, led by Juhan.
