Experience the scenic beauty of Arizona on this Small-group or Private day trip from the Phoenix-Scottsdale area. Visit one of the world’s wonders, the Grand Canyon, and experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition, on a full-day trip. During this excursion, you will board a state-of-the-art ECO-Star helicopter for your 45 minute flight. Your aerial adventure begins with a view of the North Rim as you fly towards the eastern end of the canyon following the Colorado River. Experience amazing bird's-eye views as you head south through the Dragon Corridor, which is the widest and deepest part of the Grand Canyon. You will also have time to explore the rim of the canyon by foot, capturing incredible photographs of the Grand Canyon.

Starting Jan 1st, 2026, the tour supplier is required by law to confirm US or Non-US citizenship which will determine if an additional entry fee is required. For non-US citizens, the tour supplier must collect an additional $100 per person, payable in advance to the tour supplier.
The maximum weight limit per person is 275 pounds. Guests over the weight limit (275+ lbs) will be required to purchase 2 seats. This is payable direct to the tour operator prior to the tour date.
Arizona state law requires children under 8 years to have either a child seat or booster. Child seats are not provided, please bring your own and notify supplier
Minimum age is 3 years and guest must inform supplier they will provide car seats or boosters.
Wheelchairs and walkers are acceptable as long as they fold up and can be slid into the vehicle without assistance from tour guide. The helicopter cannot accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. You must let the supplier know if you are bringing either.
We do not guarantee pickup for all hotels. Even if your hotel is on the list, there may be a chance you'll need to meet at an alternate location. Any guest staying outside of Phoenix, Scottsdale or Tempe will be required to meet at an alternate location to be determined by supplier. Tour supplier contact details will be provided on your pre-paid voucher.
The Grand Canyon South Rim is a 7,000 foot elevation, please note this if you have concerns about altitude.
There is NOT a restroom on the vehicle. Comfort stops are made throughout the day.
You must let the supplier know if there are any mobility concerns that they should be aware of.
Minimum numbers apply for the public small group tour. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
FOR LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS: Any tours booked after 7:00PM Arizona time the night before the tour date might not be confirmed. You will likely have to meet at another hotel for pick up. Our office will contact you prior to 6:00am on the tour date.

After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
Grand Canyon National Park
Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking. Sometimes your helicopter flight happens after your time on foot at the rim.

5.00It was AMAZING. I would recommend the helicopter tour. Transportation, both van and helicopter were incredibly comfortable and modern. I have a back/hip pain and I was a bit scare because of the long hours on the road, but it all went well. Our guide was considerate and helpful. We stepped out of the bus maybe 4 or 5 times inside the park for the views and to take some pictures, and some other times for refreshments and to stretch our legs on the road. The park was amazing and the helicopter experience and panoramic views impossible to describe. I totally recommend this tour.
Excellent day and worth th cost . Helicopter ride is a definite plus and necessary. Food stops poor .

4.00Bruce , our driver / tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. The helicopter trip over the canyon was amazing and totally worth it . Our only criticism is that the pit stop was in a place without any decent food . He should have stopped on the way and way back at a service station which had some food outlets such as Macdonalds etc . And the service station there were only crisps / nuts : sweets / no sandwiches etc . As a result we didn’t eat from pick up time at 8 am to drop off time at 7 pm .

5.00The last week of February with record high temperatures it was such a great trip. The #1 important thing nobody is mentioning, bring binoculars! We were able to see things in the Grand Canyon that others couldn’t. The Colorado River. Hikers. The camp at the bottom where employees live. It was incredible. Mark was our bus & ground tour guide who picked us up at a neutral hotel with others to the Grand Canyon telling us much info along the way. The 12 person bus had full windows and was very comfy. We stopped a few times for restrooms and snacks. When you get to the Grand Canyon he pulls off at many different Lookout sites. Our helicopter ride was 2pm. We were the only ones on the bus doing the helicopter so he dropped the others at the historic lodge. The pictures and videos I took are stunning. My friends are enjoying seeing something people may never see in their lifetime. Maverick Helicopter pilot was top notch made us feel very safe. Also full of info while over the Grand Canyon. An experience we will never forget. My husband said if we are traveling this far we need to do the helicopter. He was right.

5.00My husband and I enjoyed our experience. We experienced a wonderful view of the beautiful Grand Canyon from the air and the ground . Two very different perspectives and views and it was enjoyable and beautiful ! It was an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed Aldo our driver and guide along the way. He was kind, he showed us why he loves Arizona on our trip to the Grand Canyon. He knew the spots to go away from the crowds inside the national park and enjoy the moment. The park is a wonder to see and experience. Thanks for a wonderful day!

5.00Great single day trip. It's a FULL day but well worth it! Aldo is a great guide! He keeps you informed, on your toes and is also making sure everyone is safe. Treats the group like a family. The scenery is beautiful and Aldo has the history on it. Helicopter ride is the best way to get the full epic view of the canyon! This is a great trip to sit back and enjoy the scenery and not worry about driving.Great adventure! Brian & Melanie

5.00I highly recommend these guys. I had booked with another company who dropped us last minute leaving me scrambling for a tour. Rachel at Detours had us sorted out within the hour and their communication was excellent throughout. The tour guides and vehicles were all first class and the guys were flexible enough to work around some bad weather to ensure we still got our full experience

5.00It's a great experience. It's really worth it, you come to the best places with a good explanation. Plenty of places to buy drinks or food along the way. My guide was Mark Lane, nice guy with a lot of knowledge! If you have the chance, book the helicopter ride! Really great and unforgettable!:)
