Your Grand Turk sightseeing tour starts at the tram station near the cruise terminal on the southern end of the island. After boarding the open-sided tram, set off on a route that takes you all the way up to Grand Turk’s northern tip. During the tour, your local guide will narrate with fun facts and information about the island, pointing out old churches, inns, cannons, windmills and other historical attractions, and helping you spot wild horses and donkeys. Pass by Governor’s Beach and the Space Capsule on your way to Cockburn Town, where you’ll stop to enjoy a cool drink (not included in tour price) and food tastings by local merchants. You’ll also have the chance to shop for gifts and souvenirs. Then hop back on the tram to continue north, passing by Her Majesty’s Prison, built in the 1830s, and the National Museum, housed in a colonial building. Travel by Crabtree Park and North Creek on your way to the Grand Turk Lighthouse, perched on the northern end of Grand Turk. Built in 1852, it’s the only lighthouse in the Turks and Caicos. After snapping a few photos, head back down the island. The journey through Grand Turk also takes you past the island’s salt ponds, known as ‘salinas.’ These remnants of the country’s old salt industry are now home to flamingos and other tropical birds. As you go by them on the tram, your guide will tell you about the natural formation of the saltwater ponds and about the history of the industry, which dates back to the 1600s. Your tour ends with return to the tram station.

4.00Tour guide Doug was excellent. There just wasn’t a lot to see or do on the Island. Nothing we saw was if any real interest to us. You also need more explicit directions for cruisers to locate where the tour begins. It was confusing and frustrating trying to find the starting point.

5.00The driver/guide, Doug, was excellent - very knowledgeable and friendly. The only negative was the amount of noise generated by the tram’s motor. At times it was too loud to hear guide comments. A suggestion would be to sit in the back car of the tram away from the engine noise.

5.00An open-air tram ride around the island of Grand Turk stopping at some sightseeing spots as well as shopping spots. Rest rooms and opportunities for buying refreshments are available. It was a little difficult to find the meeting spot. The people were knowledgeable and friendly.

1.00We could not find the pickup area and once we did find the representative, we were told to wait while she found the other people who booked. We waited over an hour. She returned to tell us that she could not find the others who booked and the tram would not be able to go out with just two people. She stated we would get a refund. I received an email stating that a refund has been processed. It is almost a month later and I am still waiting for said refund. I am now I am in the middle of disputing the charges with my credit card company. Very frustrating.
Stay on the ship. Not worth it.

2.00We walked quite a ways outside the perimeter of the port to find our tour was delayed 1.5 hours. The tram was a scooter type 2 stroke engine that was loud and couldn’t hear the guide. It smelled of gas/oil mixture and very bumpy. We shoulda stayed on the ship!

4.00Tram was an hour late. Some customers left as they had other excursions booked for the afternoon. Once on tram the guide was informative. A good way to see the highlights of the island.

1.00This was a terrible tour. You could not hear a thing the tour director said. He even apologized. The places we went to were less than exciting. I would like my money back. I have used viator many times and this was the first time I was disappointed. Judith Moll
