Last minute booking. They couldn’t accommodate only 2 people, but they seamlessly connected us with another water taxi company (ABS). Both were amazing and reliable, with good local knowledge on other hikes.

Weather was perfect and water taxi was very accommodating! Recommend if your time in Homer is limited and you can go 8 miles rt with the added side hike

The hike to see the glacier is rocky and lots of roots. Going down the hill at the end was challenging. It is a self guided hike. Schedule your own water taxi and pay less.

We did the short challenging hike, close to 4 miles. We enjoyed our hike to the beautiful view of Grewingk Glacier, awesome scenery! Captain Ben did a great job taking us to our drop off and picking us up and then showing us some puffins and sea otters! Thanks Captain Ben!!

Myself and the family greatly enjoyed the boat trip out to the bay for our hike! Zach was an excellent captain and the boat was great! They went above and beyond in showing us maps of the trail, having a good playlist on the boat ride, and a timely pick up after our hike! Highly recommend!

I was fooled by the word “Grewingk Glacier Hike”. I thought I would walk on Grewingk Glacier but I could only hike up to the Gracier view point. The view was great but the trail consists of dirt and rough gravel which need a sturdy hiking boots. And it is not easy trail. A lot of gavels and steep narrow roads require extra caution to prevent ankle injury. Anyway the iceberg floating on the lake was the greatest view.

This is not a guided hike, just a boat ride to the trailhead where you are left to your own devices. The boat operators point out the trail on their map but after that you are on your own in bear country without a guide or a map. Not what we expected. It’s a beautiful area with a well marked, heavily traveled trail. But nothing was said about this being self-guided. Second strike for us with Viator so we won’t be using them anymore.

We did the hike on a beautiful day. We were dropped off by the water taxi and given a 10 seconds of instructions of where we were going to hike. When we entered there were signs warning about bears but we were not told to bring bear spray. The scenery was beautiful. The hike was easy for the most part. The last 1.5 miles was moderately difficult. We finished the hike and had to wait for 90 minutes to get picked up.

Coldwater Alaska staff (both office and water taxi) are friendly and professional. Water taxis that my wife and I were on looked new and well-maintained. Some may find the start to the Saddle trailhead hike to Grewingk Glacier steep but the trail levels out and the eventual view of the lake and glacier are not to be missed. If you staying in the Homer area, this is a must do!
