  We really enjoyed our Byron Bay surfing lesson. The beach chosen was perfect for very beginners — the waves started off very small and gradually built up, which made it a great learning environment. At first it didn’t look like much from the shore, but once you were out in the water it was ideal. We were running a little behind schedule, but luckily there was no rush. One thing to note is to make sure you call ahead on the day of your lesson, as our booking was originally for 10am but was changed to 1:30pm due to weather conditions, and we almost missed that update. We were in a fairly large group (around 16 people), but it worked well with three instructors and still felt organised. All of the instructors seemed very knowledgeable. Our instructor, Marco (hopefully I’ve spelled that correctly), was friendly and calm. He was a bit quieter than some of the others, but still supportive throughout the lesson. A few more tips would have been helpful, but overall it was still a positive experience. We did end up having to drive ourselves as the van was full, but we were reimbursed for petrol, which was really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend it.   For a first time surfer, the instructors were great and very helpful. They can pick-up from your hotel and take you to the beach and drop you back to your hotel after the surfing lesson. Great value for money

  Great surfing class! The instructor Shane and Jeremy are very patient, supportive and professional, making it easy to learn. Terry was also very friendly and welcoming. Meet great friends from all over the world. Highly recommend!

  We did a surf course in Byron Bay with our three children. The owner of the surf school is really a special personality – very warm, enthusiastic and with a lot of experience. Despite difficult conditions, he has done everything to make it a nice experience for all of us. Because of the current shark warnings in Byron Bay, we dodged Flatrock Beach near Ballina – a beautiful beach for our course. Our children had a lot of fun and felt in good hands. Overall, a very positive experience, which we are happy to recommend.

  It was s funny and amazing tour. We had a lot of fun bc we was amateurs. Some of us already surfed before and the teaching was only with the guide so solo training was not possible.

  A great day surfing with Terry and the crew. Highly recommend. Cheapest price we have found for surfing class on the east coast. Whole class managed to stand up and surf by the end of the lesson so it’s well worth the money!

  Had a really fun lesson with Kool Katz. Terry was an interesting character, I liked him just make sure you have a sense of humour and you’ll be fine haha. Surf tips were helpful, and got everyone in the group to stand up by the end of the session so it really does work. I’d have enjoyed more time in the water and maybe a few goes on my own without assistance from coaches but I understand their methods. Really good price for the class and it’s worth doing.
