  Great introduction to the history of Bratislava. We walked around old town and then up to the castle. The tour lasted around 2 hours but I wish it was longer! Our guide, Katarina, was a Bratislava local and she was super knowledgeable and kind.

  There were two options at the start of this tour, one being the Guided City/Castle Tour and the other more a contemporary Bratislava 20th Century Tour with a different guide and emphasizing of course the time period, but especially the Soviet era. Not having too much knowledge of the city we opted to follow Martina and her city tour and were rewarded with an educational and enjoyable few hours. It was bitterly cold but Martina took our minds off the climate to passionately speak about her city's history, show us some highlights and - uncharacteristically for such tours - even some lowlights. There was a particularly poignant juncture as she described a former 1893 magnificent Neolog synagogue destroyed by the communist regime so an expressway could be built on its site... in 1969, no less! After the tour, I was moved enough to ask Martina not to exclude that portion of the itinerary in future as she brought to life so powerful a moment, if only even for that short time. There are two points which are worth mentioning which may not be emphasized in the description: On our tour, the city main was covered first and the ending point was the actual castle. This is more logical than hiking up, then down the mountainside back to the town as in the summary. It also provides an opportunity to stop short of walking up to the castle if you are so disposed, as the second point I would bring up in relation to this portion is the actual difficulty factor. Though she acknowledged some effort involved in proceeding up the cliffside, she made it seem like more of a nuisance. The reality is that she is extremely fit and the climb does entail some difficulty with several stone stair sections at varying slopes which sometimes cannot be taken at too leisurely a pace to ensure keeping up with the group. Still I would unhesitatingly recommend taking this tour, especially if your guide happens to be Martina, as it will greatly benefit the understanding and enjoyment of Bratislava.

  Very informative. Jacob is very knowledgeable and charismatic. We had a very good time and learned about the history of Bratislava. Highly recommended.

  Matej was wonderful! He took us around the city, talked to us about history, culture, food and sights. Recommend this tour if you are limited on time but want to learn and see the city.

  This tour was the perfect start to my day in Bratislava! Our guide, Mili, was bright and engaging, and added a very memorable touch to everything. Her enthusiasm for the city and for Slovakia was contagious!

  Recommend this for anyone who will be spending a day in Bratislava, or wanting to learn more about the country’s history. We had Matej, and he was very thorough, informative, and accommodating for all of the visitors. A (basically) free tour that we would have easily paid £15 for.

  Bianka was a knowledgable, interesting, kind and helpful guide on this lovely tour of Bratislava, including the castle. This was a great introduction to the city, its major sites, its history and its culture, and Bianka gave us a lot of hints and tips to put to use post-tour. Highly recommended for everyone!
