Guided Ascent of Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest mountain: When you make an ascent with us you will not just be tagging along – we will share a wealth of historical, geological and natural history which these mountains have in abundance. We are very passionate about this area and it shows. Guests ages 16 and up can attend. It is worth mentioning before you proceed that any ascent of Ireland's highest mountain should only be undertaken if you feel you have the required level of fitness. You will be hiking over tough strenuous mountain terrain that does not have trails for at least 6 hours. The route is over 11 kmtrs long and within that there is 1000mtrs of ascent and decent! We have found that people have previously underestimated the climb so it is necessary to state this. Waterproof / windproof jacket and over trousers ( breathable fabric recommended but not essential ) Comfortable Clothing NO JEANS / DENIM Hiking Boots Fluid Packed Lunch Back Pack ( essential ) Spare Fleece / Warm Layer for the summit

5.00Amazing experience! Our guide Piaras was very knowledgeable and made the experience very fun and safe. Everyone in the group was well-prepared and friendly which made it for a great climbing day. The walk was absolutely stunning and one of the most beautiful places I've seen in Ireland. Definitely would recommend this experience if you're interested in Carrauntoohil!

5.00This is my second time climbing Corrán Tuathail with KC. Apart from the obvious safety element, the guides provide a really interesting and fun experience that can not be matched by solo climbing. I have done both so I know. The knowledge of the history, lore, geology, ecology, etc that the guides share , add colour and texture and many dimensions to the climbing experience. I brought my two adult sons on the climb and Pearse our guide left them fully charged and ready for the next climb,

5.00I was determined to climb Carrantouhill on a recent trip to Kerry, but as a solo traveller in late October, I realised this was not to be underestimated. I'm so glad I decided to book on a guided group with Kerry Climbing. Pearse, our guide, really made it a great experience. He was friendly and very encouraging, but mindful of our health and safety as well as our enjoyment. Pearse had a wealth of fascinating local knowledge to share on the history, geology and wildlife of the mountains. It was a super experience and highly recommended. Many thanks!

5.00The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, and overall just fantastic! He knew the land, the area, was able to give us some history of such, and this added to the overall experience. Despite not having the best weather, I had an incredible day and would recommend to any solo traveler who enjoys hiking!!

5.00Piaras led myself and my seventeen year old son on the Coomloughra Hourseshoe route. We had a very special day and Piaras could not have done a better job communicating how wonderful this beautifal corner of Ireland is. One of the best days of our lives, Piaras even managed to clear the cloud cover for the duration of the climb.
What a day!

5.00Superb day out on the Big Gun with Piaras. Second time out with Kerry Climbing but not the last. Couldn’t recommend KC highly enough. Far more than a guided hike - go for it!
