Antrim Coast Road
We will return to Belfast via the Coast road which is said to be one of the most scenic drives in Europe.We will stop for a comfort break in the small fishing village of Carnlough for 15 mins which is also a Game of Thrones Location. In Season 6 of Game of Thrones, journey to the medieval fantasy world set in the ancient lands. As the lords and ladies battle for the Iron Throne, the drama returns to Braavos, the fictional village filmed at Carnlough Harbor in the Glens of Antrim. Situated on the picturesque shores of Carnlough Bay, the area has remained untouched by the passage of time, making it a perfect backdrop to the Seven Kingdoms.

5.00What a lovely day with our guide driving us up the coast to the Giant's Causeway. He gave us a great background of history of his country and the area. He was helpful and kind and prompt!

5.00This was a 7.5 hour tour in Northern Ireland in the winter time, so it was cold, windy, sometimes wet and occasionally a bit wild. Wrap up warm with plenty of layers if you want to enjoy this tour at this time of year! However, with Stephen our driver and guide we saw the very best of the local scenery in a small group. Being a local he was very knowledgeable and managed to get us to places ahead of the competition allowing us to enjoy each location with fewer crowds. His commentary also steered a careful course between the partisan groups in this troubled island. The highlight obviously is the Giants Causeway, and perhaps the most disappointing thing is the Dark Hedges because the trees are past their best and it will be another hundred years before the replacements are of a similar stature. In between we loved the small fishing village of Carnlough. There is nothing special there, just a small harbour and a 7-11 store but you feel you are seeing the real Northern Ireland. In between a stop at Bushmills Distillery (no time for a tour but time to sample if you wish), and a brief photo stop at Dunluce Castle, plus a scenic coastal drive as the waves crashed against the shore.

5.00Stephen was our guide and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with good stories throughout. The layout of the tour was very well done (whiskey stop after the slippery causeway stones!) and although none of us were GOT fans there was still plenty to see on the additional stops.

5.00Excellent tour. The guide was extremely knowledgable about local history and landmarks, the Troubles, folklore/giants, and Game of Thrones - but nor did any of it become a lecture, overly political, or dull for those of us who haven't watched Game of Thrones. He kept it light and relevant. We brought lunch with us as there's no lunch stop, which was a good idea. We would have liked more time at Giants Causeway as it wasn't quite enough - despite this being the tour that we found gave the most time (see above point re not hving watched GoT, we could happily have missed those spots!) - we would have preferred a good walk along the causeway, which there wasn't time for. But it was an excellent tour, well targeted to our needs, brilliant guide.

4.00Good things: it went according to the schedule, and the Giants Causeway is worth the trip. Bad things: driver was a heavy smoker who brought his stink on board every time we stopped; having told us the that law required everyone to wear a seatbelt, he didn’t wear his at all, and frequently checked is phone whilst driving.
