The Drach Caves are among the most visited in Europe and many consider them the 8th Wonder of the World. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes during the visit.

Cuevas del Drach
The Cuevas del Drach were already known during the Middle Ages and were explored in 1880 by M. F. Will and in 1896 by E.A. Martel, who discovered the cave containing the lake that bears his name. Between 1922 and 1935 the cave was conditioned to be visited by opening a new entrance, building paths, stairs, etc. and, above all, by installing electric lighting designed by the engineer, Mr. Buigas. The tour takes about an hour, the length being about 1,200 metres, and includes a classical music concert and a boat trip across Lake Martel. The temperature inside is about 21°C and the humidity 80%.

The cave itself is very beautiful... But what mass tourism... Arrival at 3pm of our visit, surprise, there are no more than 300 to have the same schedule... And everyone is let go to visit the cave... The visit is 95% on foot, clumped on top of each other. You only borrow the boat for two minutes, the images are misleading. The classical music concert is simple, nothing exceptional Very disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic, really loved the pearl shop, such an interesting attraction in a beautiful setting, all the jewellery was amazing, if a shade ostentatious for my taste.

Firstly, the caves were absolutely stunning and well worth it although it was overcrowded, it was brilliant. However, we should have just booked our own bus and gone there ourselves. The tour in itself was a bit pointless. Firstly, it was advertised that we would be collected from our hotel. We were contacted the morning of, stating they couldn’t collect from hotels in the city so go to a meeting point at 1:20. After waiting for over a half hour, we rang a staff member and he said he told us the wrong time, it was meant to be 2:20. He was very nice and apologetic. We then arrived at 2:20 to wait another 20 minutes for the bus to show up. We then waited approx 30 minutes to take off. We were supposed to go to a pearl factory which was basically a shop with lots of jewellery to buy, a coffee shop and a small exhibition about making the pearls that takes about 2 minutes to get through. Not the actual factory, which is located in Manacor. We then were driven to the caves which was great, however we ended up rushing in the end and had to skip a lot of it to get back to the bus. We wished we just booked a bus ourselves in order to have enough time. The tour guide spoke in English, French and Spanish however the microphone on the bus was ringing which was hard to listen to for 2 collective hours. She didn’t seem too enthusiastic to be there.

Such an amazing place…the caves, the largest underground lake in Europe….breathtaking, especially the music and the boat ride through the lake.

I’m writing this review purely on my experience only and I appreciate everyone’s will differ and have different expectations. Firstly we went to a very sweet old school market, this was very pleasant and the surroundings are vintage and the residents are elderly, there is a lovely church which you can go in a take photos and a little coffee shop. The market there is the usual which are handbags, watches, soap, food etc. We are then taken to the Pearl Shop, this was pretty bad, if you aren’t going to buy anything pearl related it’s pretty pointless, you get taken through an exhibition which is all videos, you don’t see anyone craft/make any necklaces or bracelets etc. You are given 30 mins to look around and grab something to eat, there is a coffee shop at the bottom and then it’s back on the bus. You then go to another market in Porto Cristo, this is very standard, without being rude it’s no different to a car boot sale, this market again was pointless. You then finally get to the caves where we joined a long queue and walked around a cave, that’s it. You then sit in a concert type seating and watch people come by in a boat and play music, you can then join a queue and wait to get on a boat or walk out, the boat ride is about 1 minute and the queue is minimum 20 mins. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone unless you really want to see the caves, €50 each is pretty steep for what you get.

It's very nice, it's worth going but a lot of people looked like a herd of sheep!! You take a route, you see it, then you sit on some benches, a boat with classical musicians passes by.

An amazing day absolutely loved it. We had a luxury coach fully air con. The Gude Sebas was amazing. At the end of each cave you have a classical music experience. Just check with booking if you have problems with mobility.

Honestly the worst “tour” I’ve ever been on in my life, no exaggeration, quite possibly the most pointless experience, it’s over crammed in there so you can’t move around freely, the music is pointless and has nothing to do with a cave, £52 for an hour of nothing. Honestly don’t waste your money.

I truly enjoyed the classical music during our trip! Everything was too impressive ( the caves, the pearls shop, the Porto Cristo) The bus had air conditioning, they were friendly Everything was explained in English, Spanish, German and French! So all the tourists and the locals weren’t confused about the tour
