Nocturnal wildlife differs greatly from what can be seen during the day. From sloths, frogs, snakes and insects to sleeping birds, they are part of what can be found on a good night. With a flashlight and a lot of enthusiasm the experience of walking in the darkness in the middle of the tropical forest is something to remember.

"Monteverde Wildlife Refuge” is a 55 acre protected area located at the pacific slope of the Tilaran mountain range. This premountanous forest is one of the most important in the area, which makes it the ideal place to observe and learn about the nocturnal wildlife.

5.00This was my third night tour, and every one has felt different and special. Rodiber is an outstanding guide who is extremely knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to help everyone spot the animals and made sure we all had opportunities to see them clearly and take photos, making the tour both enjoyable and memorable.

5.00Our family had a wonderful time on the night with Rodiber. We saw vipers, hummingbirds and a variety of other birds, frogs, tons of different insects, and a sloth. Rodiber was so patient with our 8 year old who had a million questions. We highly recommend doing this tour.

5.00We really enjoyed the Guided Night Walk in Monteverde. It was a great experience and definitely worth doing. Our guide, Rodiber, contacted us on WhatsApp the day of the tour and sent very detailed directions. Once the walk started, it was clear that he is very knowledgeable. He was able to spot a lot of wildlife that we never would have seen on our own and explained what we were looking at in a way that was easy to understand. He also helped take photos for us, which we really appreciated.

5.00We booked this nightour through TripAdvisor after reading reviews and were not disappointed. Rodiber was an excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable. He found: frogs, snakes, spiders, various insects, a scorpion, a sleeping sloth, a sleeping toucan, a hummingbird and bioluminescent fungi! We would highly recommend this tour as we would have walked straight past these creatures without a guide.

5.00We had a great experience with this tour. Rodiber was our guide and he was excellent! We saw all kinds of wildlife. Definitely worth it! I would highly recommend Rodiber and the location of the tour as well. Bring your rain gear and good hiking boots!

5.00Stop looking for another night walk guided tour in Monteverde and book Rodiber! It was by far our best experience with guides in Costa Rica. Rodiber was like a hound dog with a single mission - find the animals in the forest and show them to hs. We saw so many different species of insects, snakes, frogs, an "escaping" sloth, and so much more. Rodi was able to find many more animals compared to the other guides. At the same time, he was very nice to share the "findings" with his colleagues. He sees and hears everything. It's incredible. Rodiber was very professional. He knows absolutely everything about the aninals, plants, the forest, and Costa Rica in general but he's too humble about it! Ask him anything and he'll know. He also tough us how to make great night-time photos.
Best guided tour in Costa Rica. Period.
