All places have legends and Antigua Guatemala is no exception. On this tour you will hear the most famous and dark legends of the city and Guatemala, while we walk the cobblestone streets and visit iconic places: such as:

The Church of Mercy

The Arch of Saint Catherine

Central Park

The Union Tank

The tour is only for the brave and history lovers, as we will walk through the streets of the city that was once the capital of Guatemala.

Among the Legends to tell are:

"The cadejo" a dog that can protect you or chase you to bite you.

"The carriage of death" a carriage that leaves at night.

"La llorona" the story of a woman who lost her children.

"La Tatuana" a witch who lived in Antigua Guatemala.

"The legend of the Owl" mysterious animal for the Mayans.

and many more.

We will start the tour at 6:30 in the afternoon and end at 8:30 at night.

This was great. I thought it would be more ghosts and catacombs, but it was more about Mayan stories, but I didn’t mind it. The guide was super informative and gave great history of Antigua as our group walked around.

Luis is a wonderful guide and host. Very warm, professional, humorous, and engaging. His style of storytelling is very informative and entertaining. He also handles delicate topics of religion or politics with either humour or diplomacy. Our only suggestion is to pack an umbrella or raincoat in case of rain, but definitely don't cancel or postpone because of it!

We had Andrea all to ourselves. This was a great mix of Mayan cultural background and legends and ghost stories coming from colonial times in Antigua. It was extremely informative.

Luis was amazing. We decided to do this tour last minute on our final night in town. Despite missing the reservation time slot to book, he graciously allowed us to join. I’m so glad he did because it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Not only does Luis have a natural gift of story-telling but he was incredibly friendly, funny, and deeply knowledgeable about both the historical side of Antigua and the local legends that bring the city to life after dark. He shared fascinating historical facts, pointed out constellations in the night sky, and made our small group feel engaged and comfortable throughout the tour. He also happily answered a lot of our random questions and gave recommendations of places to check out. All around great guy. If you’re in Antigua, I highly recommend doing a guided tour with Luis.

Luis was absolutely brilliant. He spoke English perfectly well, and helped teach a little Spanish along the way! Luis was very friendly and we had some good jokes and conversations as well as the tour. Luis was extremely knowledgeable and told lots of myths and legends along with bits of history. He happily answered any questions. Many of the stories seemed to be Mayan legends. I think the quality was well worth the price. I would recommend to anyone interested in learning more about the local legends but also the history and culture of the place.
