Getting off of the beaten track this tour will explore a diverse mix of habitats looking both for wildlife and exploring the rich history of the New Forest.

The New Forest is the smallest National Park in England, but is packed full of amazing wildlife - it is also inhabited by thousands of free-roaming livestock and deer, including of course the popular New Forest Ponies!

Join us for this guided walk in the heart of the forest to experience some of the amazing scenery on offer, and the chance to see ponies, deer and other wildlife.

An introduction to the New Forest, its wildlife, history, and people. You will hear about the origins of the New Forest as a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror nearly 1000 years ago, and its modern-day role as a place for nature conservation, responsible recreation, and commercial forestry and farming. Led by experienced local wildlife experts, this short walk provides a great introduction to the New Forest National Park and covers 2-3 km in 90 minutes.

So easy booking the walk and receiving clear information on where to meet, thank you. An exciting search for fungi, which were everywhere once we started looking. Marcus and Emily are so knowledgeable and always keen to share what they know with participants. They made sure everyone saw a huge variety of fungi and had a chance to photograph them. They explained the importance of fungi and slime mould in the New Forest giving some amazing facts and insights. Lots of fun. A first class experience, thank you!

Really welcoming and informative 2 hour walk in the forest with Marcus, Emily & Jamie. Would thoroughly recommend. Saw so many more species of fungi than we thought possible.

The Butterflies talk and walk was fantastic, really enjoyable and informative, I learnt so much. And even though not the ideal day for seeing butterflies we still saw a good range and other insects too.

Trips with Wild New Forest are always superb. I have been on butterfly walks and the Beaulieu River cruise frequently over the last couple of years. Marcus Ward and Emily have a great knowledge of the wild life of the New Forest and are great and expert hosts. Always professional, friendly and detailed. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who wants to learn and experience the flora and fauna of the New Forest.

A wonderful few hours in the Forest, where beech leaves carpeted the ground. So many fascinating fungi found by the very knowledgeable Wild New Forest team, who gave us time to take photos. Interesting stories revealed by Marcus about the different fungi. Not just the biology, but also the social aspects e.g. the actions of reindeer herders …. You need to join a trip to find out what they get up to… I think I might have to go again too 😊

Always interesting with Marcus and Emily. You never know what you are going to find and there are always surprises! Lovely way to spend a couple of hours in the New Forest.

A brilliant tour, Marcus was a wonderful guide with his young assistant, we saw flora, fauna, birds, butterflies, deer, learnt about the history of the area and local customs. The views were magnificent. Take this tour and really get to know the New Forest. Marcus was engaging, super knowledgeable answering questions and walking at a good pace to accommodate the slower walkers. Wonderful, cannot recommend highly enough! Thank you Marcus!

The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and cares deeply about the local environment in the new forest. I have never visited the area before and learnt a great deal about the ecology of the area, it's plants and wildlife. Really enjoyed the experience.
It truly IS family fun in the forest!

We had a fantastic time, as a family of four, exploring the New Forest with Emily-Louise and Marcus. They were so knowledgeable about animals, insects, flora and fauna. Our young children became completely engrossed in finding fungus and bugs for nearly 2 hours! Thanks for getting us out into nature and enjoying the fresh air as a family!
