Fantastic experience. Our guide Lance took us around a market and was very knowledgeable about spices, fruit, vegetables and Chinese Traditional Medicine. The class was fantastic and the recipes were super tasty. I will be eating at home. Thank you Lance and Aunty Hua!

If you are looking for authentic Chinese cooking, fully immersive, classes this is the experience for you! don’t miss out! Started with a market walk, was able to ask Litchi so many questions on varieties of everything from vegetables to chilis. After the market we walked to the cooking lessons (very close by), the 3 dishes were not only very unique but also they are really traditional sichuan dishes (no tourist or westernized picks). Class is fast, full of tips and a lot of fun. Was able to have some really great chat with Litchi, who made the experience overall fantastic! TIP: if you want to record start from the moment you get there, it goes QUICK!

COOKING CLASS ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED! In advance Jerry contacted us via WhatsApp... if we have allergies etc. - and confirmed meeting point at metro station again. In the end, we didn’t take the metro but the Didi to the meeting point in the north of Chengdu, where Lance, our super nice guide, picked us up. We then walked with him two/three blocks further to the market. He explained a lot to us there - and we could ask any question. He also bought us various fruits, which we tasted on the spot. That's great. The cooking school is directly attached to the market, super equipped and very clean. There we cooked three dishes and of course ate them. A lovely cook explained everything to us and Lance translated it into English. We learned a lot, ate super delicious and had an insanely nice time there. Lance also took us to a hairdresser at the market at the end, because our (full-term) son still needed a haircut. This was our second family holiday in China. Also on our first holiday we had attended a cooking class (in Yangshuo). Every time an absolute highlight! For us, a Chinese holiday without a cooking class is unthinkable. We can highly recommend Chilli Cool in Chengdu.

This was my second time visting Chilli Cool kitchen since I was there during the Mahjong class as well. I booked the full option with BaoZi cooking and would recommend everyone goes for that as well. Lance was very nice, showed me around the local market and patiently answered all of my many questions. The cooking was very fun and seemed really authentic as the chef really knew what she was doing. I would strongly recommend to go as hungry as possible, especially when booking the 5-meal option since there is a lot of food to be consumed after the cooking is done :)

This was truly one of the best tours I've ever been on my whole life! Firstly, Im a solo traveler and sometimes finding tours for just one person can be a little difficult because most companies need at least two people for to be financially feasible to operate the tour. This was the first time I was able to find a company that was willing to just take me solo. Lance, the tour guide as well as English translator, was really fantastic and it was great having a one-on-one conversation with him where I got a much deeper insight into life within China for a normal person. The tour starts with an hour walking through one of chengdu's wet markets where I got to try different types of fruits and we picked up some fresh vegetables for the class. We then had an hour of relaxing and chatting with tea. Then we had about an hour and a half of cooking where we made five dishes, mapo tofu, stir fried pork, stir fried cabbage, cucumber salad, and a delicious eggplant dish. You cook with an older Chinese woman who definitely has years of experience while Lance translates what she says for you. It's a very interesting experience that was truly once in a lifetime. The food itself was very good, although I guess depending on how good or bad of a cook you are that could change. I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone in Chengdu! Besides the fact that you get to make some very good food, you also get to experience a less touristy side of the city and you'll have a great tour guide in Lance!

This cooking class was excellent! Jerry took use through a local market showing us all the different ingredients, explaining what they were used for, and also the cultural significance behind them. The market was in a very local, non-touristy part of town, and I felt like I gained the kind of insight and understanding of the life and culture in Chengdu that can only be gained through a local. Jerry was very open and knowledgeable, answering all our random questions. You can tell he's super passionate about food and community. The actual cooking class was also great, with Jerry showing us how to prepare all the ingredients and guiding us through the cooking process for 3 dishes. In the end, the dishes we made were incredibly delicious, and surprisingly simple (I can make all of them at home). In the end, I highly recommend this tour!

We had a great time with the cooking class and market tour! Lance shared all his great insights and answered any questions we had. We got to taste some great bites from the market and enjoyed them during a tea break. We made 3 Sichuan dishes and the cooking class was verywell organized! Would recommend the entire experience as a great introduction to Sichuan culture, people and cuisine.

At the subway line 6 exit met by Lance and Amyuan. We walked to the local market and got an explanation about the different vegetables, types of meat and especially about the herbs and spices. After a pleasant tea ceremony started preparing the ingredients. When all that was done we started cooking. Lance showed it to me and I followed simultaneously. When the 3 dishes were ready we had a nice drink. Learned a lot but also had a very nice afternoon. Highly recommended if you want to learn more about Sichuan cuisine. For me really 10 points. This activity was truly the highlight of our entire trip. We spent a wonderful afternoon starting with a visit to the local market with the lovely Litchichi, who guided us through the stalls and introduced us to fruits we had never tasted before. We then met Chef Jerry, who taught us how to prepare dumplings, stir-fried vegetables with pork, and century eggs. His professionalism and teaching style were truly captivating. We were able to enjoy the dishes we had cooked while chatting with Jerry and Litchichi. This experience will remain unforgettable, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chengdu.
