Group lessons with Soul Surf School are a great way to experience surfing some of our world famous breaks in a group setting. We have a number of beaches to chose from in the Byron/Lennox/Ballina area, and our team are dedicated to finding the best, fun and safest waves every day.
We run the lowest ratio of instructors to surfers in the area, at 1:7 for adults and from 1:4 for little ones. This ensures that all our surfers receive plenty of attention, individual feedback and all the groms are safe in the water.
We have a great range of equipment, with over 80 fun safe soft surfboards and intermediate to advanced boards that will help you to learn faster and catch lots of waves.
Minimum age 13yo.

Our half-day lesson is a great way to get your surf career started! MINIMUM AGE 13YRS! For kids under 13yo please contact us. Our lessons are specifically designed to teach you to surf at your own pace in a relaxed environment to build further self-confidence so you can continue in the sport of surfing and feel confident in the water. You will learn surfing techniques and ocean safety with our qualified surf coaches & surf life savers. All instructors have vast knowledge of the local area and will only conduct lessons in surf conditions in waist deep water with easy and to ride waves in your first lesson. At Soul Surf School we deliver lessons to adults, families, couples, groups and kids 5yrs old and above. If you're an INTERMEDIATE or ADVANCED surfer and/or want to have the lesson tailored to your specific needs, please give us a call for further advice. 5.00The instructors were amazing, giving tips and making sure we were surfing under the best conditions. The groups were nice and small so it wasn’t too crowded. I had a great time and wanted to book the next lesson straight afterwards!

5.0010/10 would definitely reccomend! On both days I surfed with them I had an amazing time and was able to massively increase my confidence on the board. The instructors were phenomenal and incredibly knowledgeable.

5.00We had an amazing morning learning to surf! You get so much out of what you pay for the lesson. Being out there for three hours and going up to different levels and trying new skills was so amazing. We felt so accomplished after being able to get up consistently and catch a few waves by ourselves. The instructor really made a point of getting people to a point where they felt capable and comfortable to try catch a wave by themselves. I really appreciated the friendly and laid back vibes but also that the lesson had so much structure and clear instructions. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering taking a surf lesson in Byron Bay! We would do it again in a heartbeat.

5.00This surfing lesson was amazing, except that it lasted for less than 3 hours only (it was shown as 4 hours in Viator). Thanks so much to my excellent instructor Kai, who gave very clear teachings and took good care of us as beginners. It is important to remember the movement from lying to standing on the surfboard and the posture to keep our balance when we stand up. Overall, I can’t believe how fun surfing is and I could stand up on the surfboard and ride my first wave!!😆
