This popular site attracts thousands of visitors per year, with tourists flocking here to see the amazing grotto via local boat trips (which rarely get crowded, despite the big numbers). It’s also a very popular diving, snorkelling and swimming spot, with very clear, clean and deep waters. Blue grotto boat ride cost of 10 Euros per person.

Mdina

Mdina was founded over 4000 years ago. It is the oldest fortified medieval town in Malta and sits on top of a hill. Mdina is said to have been where St Paul, the Apostle rested when he was shipwrecked. So if this is to be believed, this is a very ancient city. Its architecture is a mixture of baroque and medieval and there is just no place like it.

Jonathan was our guide. He made it easy for us to see what we wanted. He knew the best way to arrange the time we had. Very friendly. Extremely knowledgeable. Comfortable van. We learned a lot! The boat ride at the Blue Groto was our first highlight but not our last one. We rated this tour an A+.

We could not have had a nicer experience around Malta than being driven around by Simon. He took a us to experience the blue grotto, to have local sweets and pastries, to the original capital of Malta. Perfect English, warm personality. A wonderful ambassador for his country. We look ok forward to a return visit.

Isaac and Sylvan mage the tour personalised, special and interesting g taking in the blue grotto Hagar Qim, Dihgli cliffs and the Catacombs. They allowed us time at each location to explore at our own pace. Unfortunately due to a massive thunderstorm we had to curtail the tour. Prior to the tour we were kept informed of timings where to meet and on the day Phone calls to ensure we knew wheee to meet and what vehicle led was collected ring us. Great service e thank you.

Absolutely fantastic tour around Malta. Jonathan was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was absolutely brilliant throughout the whole tour and we even went over time. I couldn’t rate this highly enough, you must book this tour if you visit Malta

Simon was an outstanding guide! He took us to the most beautiful locations and introduced us to incredible local cuisine we never would have found on our own. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!

Wow! Our guide John was amazing. His knowledge of Malta astounded us. He was both knowledgeable and passionate about the country. He was very helpful and thoughtful, a true gentleman. We really enjoyed the tour and the time spent with John. He made sure we seen everything that we wanted to see. At the Basilica he walked us in to a separate counter to avoid the line. John was always waiting for us when and where he said he would be when at an attraction that he did not go in, such as the Blue Grotto and a few others. We never felt rushed and really got to enjoy all we seen. John’s knowledge and personality really made this tour special. We highly recommend this tour.

Our first visit to Malta via cruise ship and we wanted an overview of the major attractions. This tour on Viatour seemed to fit the bill and it certainly delivered. Jonathan, our driver did an excellent job providing us with a great introduction to Malta. Our first stop was a boat tour in the Blue Grotto. This is a must do experience, beautiful! Next stop the Dingli Cliffs, highest spot on Malta. Then on to Mdina, the oldest city in Malta and finally views of Valleta. Jonathan provided excellent historical commentary as well as current information on Malta. Jonathan provided little treats, water and a small gift. We were very pleased with his service and the value of this private excursion.

We really enjoyed this tour. The highlights were our visits to the Blue Grotto and Malta's old capital city, Mdina. The only negative was that our guide was not properly equipped to deliver his knowledgeable talks while he was driving us from place to place. Only the people sitting close to the front of the van could hear him. As a result, many people in the back of the van started conversations that distracted from our tour. Suggest that the tour company use a speaker system inside the van.
