  Mr. Caleb was our tourguide/driver for the day. Got to ride a Toyota Granvia with Captain’s chair! Very comfy and best for post-tour naps. Since this is a private tour, we can pick with destination to go to/ skip. Shifen Old Street - Sky Lantern and souvenir buying (2 pcs of lantern were included in this tour); Lucky that we reach this area early= not crowded yet. Love the embroidered cat key chains! Jiufen old Street - Lunch break and souvenir shopping Mr. Caleb also directed us to the less travelled pathways and ordered for our lunch (braised pork) Also, bought pineapple cakes, mango jellies and nougat! Mr. Caleb was kind enough to pick then up and put them in the van so we wont have to carry it with us. Also suggested the photo stops and took the photos while giving a brief history of the place. Esp the secret spot on Jiufen area. At the end of the day, he dropped us at our pickup point, fresh from our nap inside our comfy van.

  This is a great way to spend some time away from Taipei! Beautiful landscape, the Geopark was very interesting, fun times releasing the lanterns and the quaint little gold mining town Jiufen was soggy but very lovely. Our driver, Alex, was an excellent guide and host.

  This was one of the best tours we have taken due to great guide/driver and itinerary. Paul is knowledgeable, connects quickly with his guest, personable, attentive to our needs, timely, and courteous. We really loved each location. We did not like the restaurant for our lunch. Highly suggest changing locations.

  We had a wonderful day touring outside of Taipei with our delightful guide, Ken. Despite the gray and sometimes raining weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our hikes to waterfalls, shopping and releasing lanterns. 10/10

  

  

• Lantern Raising of the Ten Buddhas in Taiwan

  It is only a post of the Ten Buddhas of Taiwan, but it was so good that I will post it. It was raining heavily as the typhoon approached. We were worried if we could raise the lamp, but because the typhoon track was from the south due to the event in the rain, there was not much wind and we were able to raise it safely. The lanterns are square and about 1.5m long, so you can write a lot of letters in sumi on all sides. You may want to decide what to write in advance. After getting off the sightseeing bus, walk to the Tentouage spot. It felt distant, probably because of the rain. There are many similar tourists, so be careful not to get lost. append There are a lot of souvenir shops along the railroad tracks, which I am also looking forward to.

  A whirlwind tour you can fit in a day. Great variety of venues and landscapes and a nice cross section of the local culture. Our guide, Sean was exceptional! He had great English speaking and comprehension, so he didn’t just recite a script. He could speak knowledgeably and answer questions on a broad range of topics. A great day!

• Worth the trip, but be prepared for crowds

  Chiao-chiao was our guide and driver. She was affable and hospitable and showed us the countryside around Shifen (and the obligatory lantern launch) as well as some of the beautiful NW coast of Taiwan near Jiufen. We went on a Tuesday, and I’d recommend hitting both towns on an off day and not a weekend. As it was, Shifen was getting quite busy and Jiufen was packed by early afternoon. If I went back, I’d try to arrange to do a hike outside of town to take advantage of mountain and sea views.

  Vincent was our tour guide and he was fantastic. He made our day super fun! He showed us great spots and was so helpful. My son was on crutches/wheelchair due to an injury and Vincent was so accommodating and helpful. He really cares about his clients! We HIGHLY recommend. I would definitely book him again for another trip. Thanks for a great day.
