Today we will start to visit the Royal Palace, the incredible solid silver-floored Silver Pagoda and Independence Monument, built in 1958, and inaugurated in 1962 during the regime of Sangkum Reastr. This monument also serves as a proud testament to commemorate people who sacrificed their lives for the welfare of the country. The monument is captivating for its cool, serene atmosphere, which in turn makes it a much sought-after destination. We will find a bustling, multicultural city at the confluence of the historic Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac Rivers. Phnom Penh has many places of exceptional interest for those with time enough to appreciate the city's attractions. Then, We continue our city tour to Wat Phnom pagoda. Back to hotel and drop off.

Royal Palace
Royal Palace complex is a home to the Cambodian royal family and a symbol of the nation. We begin amid the beautiful royal gardens, landscaped with tropical plants and studded with gleaming spires. We enter the Throne Hall where the royal receptions are held and the Cambodian king's coronation took place. We then pass the Napoleon III Pavilion made from iron, a gift from the French emperor in the 19thcentury.We continue to the Silver Pagoda, named after the 5000 silver tiles covering the floor, each weighing 1kg. Inside are some of the country's most cherished treasures, including a life-size gold Buddha studded with 9584 diamonds, the largest weighing 25 carats.
Independence Monument

5.00We learnt so much from Lina, our guide. She spoke very good English and her historical knowledge was excellent. Lina explained cultural aspects very clearly to us and pointed out things we would have missed. The car for the tour was clean and air conditioned, and with water provided, we felt very comfortable as it was a very hot day. The driver was very considerate, offering me an umbrella for shade. Lina was helpful and cheerful, enabling us to finish our tour at the market as we wanted to do some shopping. She waited for us and took us back to our hotel by tuk tuk. We highly recommend Lina as a very professional tour guide.

5.00Fantastic trip with Dara in Phnom Penh. He was a wealth of knowledge in Khmer history. We had a short trip but We got plenty of information about Cambodia, especially Royal Palace and National Museum. Highly recommend this trip.
