Experience the beauty and seclusion of the Marlborough Sounds on this 4 hour half day guided sea kayak tour. Your tour takes in the western end of the Queen Charlotte Sound with its sheltered coves, beautiful beaches, azure blue waters and lush native bush. Learn about the history of the area from your knowledgeable, relaxed and friendly guides.
On any given day, you have a good chance of seeing sting rays and eagle rays, a huge variety of sea birds including cormorants and sometimes little blue penguins, seals, huge starfish and if we are really lucky, even dolphins.
We have small groups with 1 Guide per 8 people kayaking.

5.00Fabulous. Highly recommend with Maddie and Matt. Maddie has a ton of wildlife and Maori knowledge and she shares wonderfully. Made beginners feel comfortable. Highly competent and best of all, friendly!

5.00This was an awesome kayak trip. Wonderful excursion and a beautiful setting. The two staff members were great about explaining the area and calling out different species, vegetation and history of the area. We would highly recommend!

5.00We had a great half day kayaking with Wilderness Guides. They were very helpful when we asked to change the day of our booking because the weather on our original booking day was forecast to rain. Our guide Madison was great, friendly, helpful and informative. Would definitely go again with the team.

5.00Today we had our kayak tour and we would definitely recommend that! Our guide was very attentive, well organised and gave us interesting insights not only into New Zealand's nature but also into its history and culture. Water was available to buy on site and dry bags and jackets could be borrowed for kayaking. At check-in, we were given details about the route and were able to ask any questions. The guide first took us by van to Ngakuta Bay, where we received safety instructions. The tour was not too strenuous, and we were able to observe animals at our leisure. We saw starfish, manta rays, sea cucumbers and spotted shags. During the tour, the guide provided us with fascinating information about Maori and New Zealand history and culture. Afterwards, we were taken back to our starting point.
